NBA 2K6 gets ready to tip off on Xbox 360
GameSpot has taken a first look at 2K Sports' NBA 2K6 as they
prepare it for the Xbox 360 launch, and while this early playable version is a visual feast, developer Visual Concepts
was in full "look, don't touch" mode, so there are no details on actual gameplay (surprise, surprise). The reviewers
seemed to be in complete awe of the glistening sweat on the player models and "cloth physics" of the uniforms. They
were also impressed with a new on-the-floor camera viewpoint, although this low perspective makes it difficult to see
the entire court and your teammates. That's ok, it's not like you're going to feed them the rock anyway.

This is pretty damn impressive. Also taking into consideration that this is actual gameplay footage and not a trailer played in real time. 360 owners are def in for a treat.
As far as the gameplay itself goes, we may not know much how it plays but if it plays anything like the previous 2K6 games (which it more then likely will) we are in for something special here.

Rabiddog @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
I just hope that somebody comes out with something new. Rather than making a game where you just mash buttons. Maybe a first person style basketball game that 10 people could play online.
Other than that.... The graphics are to die for.
soco @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
it's basketball. wtf new can you expect other than graphics and maybe sound? i can expect more and more detail, but shouldn't the gameplay be almost mastered by now?
soco @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
hahah. i think this game could be Jack Thompson's next victim. it's full of very homosexually arousing content:
things like 'the reach-around':

and fisting:

what good are cloth physics when characters still shove their arms through other characters?
Phil Osirus @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
Can you people imagine how this will move? Invisible walls are still present I presume? Will characters still move like they're on speed? What will make this true next gen or not will be the animation quality.
murph @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
please oh, please, oh please let NHL2K6 look this good!
Embassy @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
by some of the responses i can tell some of you have never touched a 2k game...the animations and player detection were always great in the series..only gettin better and better every year..this will be no exception...
Glenn @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
This doesn't look "next gen". This looks like XBOX 1.5
There is barely a difference between this and Double Dribble on the NES. The only change is the players are in full color now instead of just gray.
wizard @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
I had completely forgotten about this game - and now it just moved to the top of my list. It looks amazing and hopefully the gameplay will match it.
thetrash @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
One of the PowerPC cores on the Xbox 360 is dedicated to sweat physics, much like the emotion engine on the PS2 made many people cry when the drive broke down.
Zoe the Panda @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
Umm, Mr. "CHRIS JONES"... the NBA 2k line is no longer run by Sega, but Take 2 Interactive. You know, the GTA people.
In any case, this "ish" looks impressive. This is the only sports franchise I have purchased consitantly on an annual basis (all the way back to the then jawdropping NBA 2k on Dreamcast), and seeing it evolve this much makes me quite excited.
Why people are even still buying EA's Live games, let alone just LOOKING at them, escapes me. It's illogical. This series is, and always has been the very definition of "superior" in comparison.
Zoe the Goose @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
Hey Glenn... you ate paint chips as a child, didn't you? A lot.
You know... "wall candy."
Pitiful.
OTAM @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
I wasnt even going to post anything about this but after reading Glenn's comment I have to.
Hahah, that's great man.Do I smell someone baking sarcasm cookies?
Hahah,great post man,keep it up.
Glenn @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
"Hey Glenn... you ate paint chips as a child, didn't you? A lot.

My sarcasm is obviously wasted on the retrded. Sorry!
Zoe the English Teacher @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
So is your horrible spelling.
Monmin @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
Glenn, if it makes you feel better, I thought it was funny.
Glenn @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
"So is your horrible spelling"
Don't worry Monmin, I feel better seeing that Zoe tries to make himself feel less stupid by pointing out that I forgot to type in a letter (obviously in haste) and somehow that's a mispelling. LOL
E2 @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
Wow, this is the most impressive sports graphics yet. Imagine what they could do if they came out with a football game.
donkey konga @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM

This comment makes little sense. Comparing a game from 18 years ago with another game not yet released and appears photo-realistic holds little weight and only makes us think you're delusional.
There's some obvious resentment towards the 360 as well.
Perhaps you should seek counseling.

Apparently, this comment of Glenn the Wunderchild's was supposed to be sarcasm. Problem is, I usually find sarcasm, in the least, mildly humorous... something which this comment was not. It was tedious and predicatable, and "sarcasm" or not, it was painfully lame.
Also, someone who would make claims pertaining to the lack of intelligence of another would obviously be putting themselves at a higher level of thought process, yes? So why, then, can this person not spell "retard?" And when was the last time you ever met a male named "Zoe?"
Sarcasm or not, he's an insignificant ass... and this will be my last post on the subject. Love ya, Glenn. ^^
Glenn @ Dec 18th 2005 10:03PM
"So why, then, can this person not spell "retard?"
Cn you relly be tht retrded?! As I already mentioned, it was quite obvious an "a" was left out and it was not a mispelling. How petty are you?
"Problem is, I usually find sarcasm, in the least, mildly humorous... "
Well, two other folks have so far, I'm sorry to be too high-brow for you.
"It was tedious and predicatable"
It was so predictable and yet you didn't know I was joking. LOL. That makes a lot of sense.
"And when was the last time you ever met a male named "Zoe?"
How about when have I ever met anybody named Zoe? And by the way, Zoe is a boy's name as well: http://www.babynology.com/dutch/baby-names-boy_Z_0.html
"he's an insignificant ass"
Who isn't?

o.O

Umm, Ms. Zoe... the NBA 2k line isn't "run" by Sega OR Take 2 Interactive. :) Those are publishers, the developer is the same as always: Visual Concepts. If you want to get technical, the 2k line is actually published by 2k games (which is owned by Take 2).
