Big Red One to support cross-platform multiplayer
Activision has announced that Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
will feature cross-platform multiplayer thanks to the State Engine middleware from DemonWare. PlayStation 2 and Xbox
players will finally get a chance to enjoy some real bragging rights—or even join forces—when they duke it out in
16-player online competition. It's worth mentioning that the GameCube version will not support these multiplayer
features. Big Red One is due out in November.

How are they going to get around Xbox Live? and Will I need to have an xbox live account to play online on xbox?

It's too bad most xbox gamers will be playing xbox360 when this game hits... It's good for the people who aren't getting xbox360 right away though...

I'd imagine it'd work with Xbox Live instead of going around it. You most likely will need an Xbox Live account in order to do this.

That's where the backwards compatibility comes in. Unless this isn't considered a top selling game.

You're delusional if you think 'most' xbox gamers will be getting a 360 at launch. I can guarantee you with 100 percent certainty that 'most' xbox gamers will still have the 1st xbox only at the turn of the year.

No, most players will not be playing on Xbox 360 when this arrives, most will probably be playing on PS2, Xbox, then Xbox 360. There simply won't be enough Xbox 360s to match the number of PS2s and Xboxs(do the math).
Besides that, I was under the impression that(fpr security reasons) Xbox Live was a closed system that would not allow crossplatform gaming. So this would mean that Xbox gamers would have use tunneling software, or simply a LAN connection to play against PS2 owners.
I can't see Microsoft allowing PS2 gamers to connect to Xbox owners any other way.

#5 what you need to ask if the millions of people who own PS2 and XBOXes are going to buy this game. The people who are buying X360's may buy this game and keep in mind we own XBOXes 2. So that will detract from the XBOX buyers; furthermore, you will people who own PS2's moving to the x360. This is not the COD2 that is being produced for the X360.

Can anyone explaing the difference between COD 2 and COD2: Big Red One... different stories or what? Is there supposed to be a 2 in the title of Big Red One? And, I still plan on playing XBOX games long after I get the X360. Hopefully no one will abandon the XBOX shortly after the 360 hits.

Well ??
Does anyone know?
What is the difference between COD 2 and COD2 - Big Red One?
I wanna know if it's worth buying it for my PS2 or if I should get it for a 360?
Jeff @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
I don't see any xbox players online with my ps2.
