Bungie confirms Halo cameo in DOA4, but not the identity
We brought you news earlier today of a rumored crossover
appearance of a character (or thing) from Halo making it into Dead or Alive 4 for the Xbox 360. Now
we hear that Bungie's confirmed
the cameo, but won't say who will be fighting against Kasumi and crew.
The DOA series has pretty much stuck to the most beautiful fighters they can find, whether male or female.
(Er, barring Gen Fu? He won’t be in DOA4, at
least not initially.) So we can only guess that an Elite or Flood-infected Marine’s not going to be Team Ninja’s first
choice for their first non-Tecmo guest star. They did spill a few details about who handled what, however, stating:
“Team Ninja handled the fighting style, and we handled the story aspects. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the
explanation for a Halo character in the DOA universe, even if it’s a bit tongue in cheek.”
Also, the DOA reveal is apparently not the only surprise Bungie has in store for us. Frankie, the resident
webmaster/site-updater for Bungie had this to say with regards to
his previous “awesome” announcement for this week: “Oh,
and although I did hint at this surprise in last week’s update, that wasn’t everything….” If it’s not Bungie’s next
project, then what could it be?
[Thanks, Master X 24 and Matt]

My vote goes for Cortana!

Cortana fo'sho.

Yeah, I gotta say Cortana too. She's the only one that really fits the mold. Doesn't use weapons (or even fight), but even Bungie's little teaser graphic above strongly tips the hat by animating how Cortana's "jiggle" can be worked into the DOA universe.
Plus in the DOA video didn't one of the characters have the ability to "warp" behind the character a la Yoshimitsu? I'm betting Cortana gets this move, as well as some others involving electrical attacks, etc.
Plus Team Ninja will be thrilled to put in more eye candy with the likes of a semi-transparent character.

Man,this is what I was hoping wouldnt happen with Microsoft, letting a successful game get to their head.
I'm a huge fan of the DOA series and I like the Halo series (I don't think it's godlike like some people) but i'm hoping they don't start having cameos and appearances by Halo characters start popping up through games and this is a one time deal. This is what Nintendo did that lost my interest,by having their entire console's library basically defined by Miyamoto's characters and games. When I want to play Halo i'll play it and when I want DOA then i'll pop in my DOA disc.
I'm really hoping this is a one time deal, you have no idea.

i think it's cortana because if you go to the site it has the shadows of everyone but cortana is bouncing(among other boucing things). drooool.......
OTAM @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Gavin,I think the bouncing part is supposed to be a joke towards how the DOA chicks are animated to be "jiggly".

Although Cortana would be ace Roberts theory about warping characters forgets that Kasumi warps and the guy... the one underneath her in doa3 character screen, they can both do it anyway.
I'm hoping its not the little flood critters in a sort of survival type thing.
But yes, Cortana is the only one who can jiggle

Make it that little exploding Flood guy. Nice short matches, nice easy controls. "A button explodes". :)
Jeramy @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
well, maybe it's a character that isn't in the silhouette. that would be an easy way to surprise people.
Rocketboy @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Gee, I hope it's as fun and well intergrated into the game like Spawn...
(note, sarcasm)

Don't forget Miranda Keys! I'm putting my money on that!
