Armageddon to be the next current-gen Mortal Kombat?

Sources within Midway say that the next Mortal Kombat game will be subtitled Armageddon and will not
be on next-gen consoles. According to TRMK.org, "They're
fixing and expanding the current DA/Deception fighting engine and enhancing Konquest mode" in the next
game.
In an added bit of online sleuthing, it was found that Midway San Diego had registered
the MKArmageddon.com domain name back on September 23rd of this
year.
That Midway San Diego (which produced the latest MK-related action-fighter Shaolin Monks)
registered the domain name instead of Midway Chicago (which produces the main MK fighting games) is a bit odd,
but, considering that theyre under the same corporate umbrella, wouldnt be that far-fetched (even if the team in
Chicago is handling the bulk of the work). Then again, perhaps an Armageddon-themed sequel to Shaolin Monks is
in the works as well. Time will tell whether these inside sources can be believed.

What? Why not make the leap to next-gen consoles already? I can't hardly wait even if nothing is confirmed

The reason they don't go next gen is that they'll make more money developing for current gen hardware. There is supposedly 90 million PS2 users (lets say 50 million for the sake of argument), would you develop for possibly 5 million X360 users or 50 million PS2 users?
I'm not saying it's exclusive to the PS2 I'm just trying to impress upon the point that it may be purely a business decision.
I'm sure the next next MK game will be next gen.

No Mortal Kombat for a long, long time for me.
Seriously, this will mark the first time I haven't bought a MK title.

Just wanted to say, Mk Armageddon will be for the Current-gen consoles AND the next gen. This is going to happen with many games developped in that time period.

1. true but by 2006 most people will have a xbox 360 or ps3 it is a stupid decison to make it on xbox because xbox 360 owners wont get to play it
3. well i hope midway doesnt make a stupid decison and makes mk7 for ps3 and xbox360
