Xbox 360 screenshots have been released for the
urban-warfare/GTA-tinged action-driving game Crackdown. Crackdown is the Western name of the
game known in Japan as Riot Act (as listed by Famitsu, and
covered by Joystiq, last week). The shots so far look a
bit plain, however.
Crackdown brings a lot of Burnout-fueled, Mercenaries-on-wheels-style gameplay to the
sandbox genre, along with some much-appreciated online co-op play. It may not be included as one of
the 360's launch titles (holiday window or not), but it is
one of the featured upcoming titles from Microsoft Game Studios and Real Time Worlds at the X05 event.
Crackdown also attempts some sort of cel-shaded art style in a rather violent next-gen game. You can find the
full version of the screenshot we've posted up top over
here, but the juxtaposition of styles
and traditionally non-violent genres can be strangely off-putting. (More realistic-looking screens on the main GR
gallery page can be found
here.) The art style
just seems a little cartoony for a GTA-style run, er… drive-'n-gun game.
[Thanks, Brad]
