Superman Returns: the Videogame slated for summer 2006 release
EA today announced that Superman Returns: the Videogame will be released next
summer for the Xbox 360 and other current-gen platforms.
Critical reviews of other comic-to-movie-to-game products indicate that games based on popular comic book content are frequently mediocre. Spider-man games published by Activision earned Metacritic scores ranging from 42 to 83. Games based on the Incredible Hulk character published by Vivendi Universal have ranged from 69 to 84. Previous Superman games published by Ingogrames, Acclaim and Midway have generally earned dismal scores ranging from 35 to 66. And so on, and so on.
We're hoping that EA is able to confound our low expectations, but blockbuster fare is rarely critically acclaimed in any medium. Still, Superman deserves special treatment, so we're hoping EA will deliver.

I was just thinking about this...

Superman 64 is the worst game ever made, when you combine the sheer awfulness with the betrayal of the source material. Take heart that if this game turns on it will almost assuredly be better than Titus' fuckpile.

I don't think it's hard for EA to do better than the crap that was Superman 64.

Then again, it IS EA, so it is difficult to figure out how they can make a game work right.
