Gabe Newell, Valve Software's founder and managing director, has announced on his company's FAQ that the free Half-Life 2 level, Lost Coast, will be available at the end of this month. The game's source engine will include HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology for improved color. You can also check out the specs of Gabe's PC.
