When Seiken Densetsu 4 was
revealed last week, very little was offered aside from its
name. We still do not know even what console the game is being developed for, for any generation (the current or the
next). However, we do know a few tidbits of the game, the first of which is that the game will be fleshed out in 3D (as
seen in the recent Famitsu scans) and, as IGN revealed today, that it will utilize the
Havok physics engine.
Koichi Ishii, the man behind the Mana series (and producer of Seiken Densetsu 4) said the
inspiration for this idea came about from a presentation of Half-Life 2 at E3 2003. The Mana titles have
always been known as action RPG's, but rarely is the focus ever on incorporating physics into the game environment –
sounds like Mr. Ishii has a couple of grand ideas for his pet series. The game is not expected to come out until
Christmas of 2006, but hopefully we will not have to wait that long for some more information.
