nope, Pokemon is alive and well.

I didn't really play a Pokemon game until Ruby. finding Rayquaza on that after not expecting anything like him at all was good. especially thinking that Groudon was the "final" big pokemon in the game... hmm.

FireRed was brilliant. catching Mewtwo with an ultra ball was good :) but I really can pin it down. the whole series has provided me with entertainment.

Not yet, #1. Not quite. =D

Personally, I've loved Pokemon since the very beginning. Even with new fads going in and out, Pokemon's always really stayed in my daily life, whether it be training my Emerald team daily, or even firing up the old Neo Genesis-era deck for a quick battle. It's not that bad of a franchise -- albeit pretty overdone.

Not gonna get XD though. Didn't like Colosseum, won't get this.

My fondest moment was having my Charmader evolve into a Charmeleon after beating Misty in Pokemon Red. I stopped playing after Gold :

My favorite was the oft overlooked Pokemon Snap (which I assume isn't considered in that million-seller statement?) I wish there was still a way to print stickers from your in-game shots. What ever happened to those kiosks at Blockbuster? Can I get one on ebay? I remember many hours of switching off with a friend to see who could get the best shots. Fatal Frame has nothing on the originator of the photography genre!

Pokemon Snap and Pinball have both given me a lot of fun times, but Puzzle Challenge / League edges them out, because, come on, it's Tetris Attack. TETRIS ATTACK.

I remember back when Red and Blue came out my friends arguing for days figuring out who would reset their game so that we could all have the three starting Pokemon.

Pokemon = proof that Nintendo can create a new franchise and fucking dominate

oh cummon number 12!

it may be a little sad but me and my girlfriend go through the rigmarole of both getting the game at the same time, but using 1 game to get all starters twice (starting a new game 5 times) so we both have all 3 starters when we begin our adventure. sure its cheating. but starters are starters :D

actually my best Pokemon moment was on Ruby. when i found that sunken boat. that was just amazing. it felt like there was already this huge game but with this little sub-quest place that felt so different.

all this said i DO NOT enjoy the Pokemon movies and only watch so i get the legal right to criticize ;) i do not like any pokemon game other than the plain old 2D/top down RPG games. even though that bit in Jirachi Wish Maker where Groudon gets carried on that beam of energy is the image of nightmares...

I remember getting my first N64. The only game I had for it at the time was Pokemon Snap. God, I played that game over and over, then printed stickers at Blockbuster. Damn, that was fun.

Gold and Silver are my two favorites, I really didn't care for the ones after those. #251 seemed to be about the right number. I remember my killer multiplayer team, which consisted of Mewtwo, Lugia, Entei, Raiku, Suicune, and Hounddoom. Slight weakeness to some ghost and dark moves (like all 3 of them from Gold/Silver) Also, Mewtwo and Lugia were by far the coolest Pokemon :D

I had pokemon blue.
Back when it was "cool" =-)

Every now and then, i'll boot up the old GBA or the older GBC... play blue, yellow, silver, or saphire- They're still very good RPG's.

Pokemon...

Man, I have a lot of fond memories of waiting for my dad to leave for work so I can spend the night hours training (my dad never allowed me to play during the schooldays).

Blue was my first pokemon game as well as my first RPG. And that whole experience of the game was a blast. Catching MewTwo with the masterball. But my fondest memory of Pokemon was catching the legenddary stones(?) and Rayquaza in Sapphire. I thought I was the only one in the world who found that cave full of braille. And that was awesome.

I love Pokemon, but I picked it up later on. My fondest memory is of Pokemon Blue. I was playing just days after the Space Shuttle Columbia burned up when I found the museum in the game with an exhibit devoted to it.

I may be a sick human being, but I found that hilarious.

I started playing said series the day the shit came out here in America. That must've been back in September of, ohhhh... 1998? I think like the 24th, wasn't it?

Anyway, it seems weird thinking about it today, but the only games out at the time with the Pok?n name on it were Red and Blue. Blue had the same color scheme as the Pok?n logo, so I went with Red. And Squirtle. Oh, Squirtle.

I played the sh*t out of Red, Blue, then Yellow, and the first Stadium, before I turned to Silver. By the time I got a fourth of the way into Silver, I was officially burned out. Pok?n was dead for me. I've since bought Ruby to try and rekindle the love, but alas, no success.

Now, when they put, say, a Pok?n MMORPG on the DS or Revolution, I'll be the first in line for that hot stuff.

I've only played the original red version and did back then download a translated gold version from the internet but never finished that. And somehow it stopped after that... I'm thinking about buying Pokemon XD just to get back the old feeling once again and because XD is such a cool smilie :).

I've been with pok?n since the begining. I remember wishing and hoping for it for christmas that year while looking at the pokemon poster I took from Wal-Mart.

I was basically the pokemon king at my school too, people would actually call me at home and ask me for advice and tips and crap.

God, what great memories.

i thought long and hard and figured out what my favorite moment was (since Kristian stole my Charmander evolving thing =P) and it was definatly in 4th grade when i came to school with pokemon silver. not even with a gameboy, just the cartridge. it was just to show off that I got it before anyone else. crap, just thought of another one, too. I was the person who got everyone into Pokemon at the school, and they all came to me for help. such fond memories...

I, too, had forgotten about Pokemon Snap and how much I loved that game. The whole Pokemon environment is very well done, and Nintendo should be commended.

Furthermore, I'm sure I'm not the only one who bought a talking Pikachu and Togepi doll. I was always hoping for a talking Squirtle...

My favorite memory was showing up to a gathering of my friends in college while playing Pokemon Blue. One friend said he was playing it on emulator, and I mentioned that the only way to get them all was to trade with someone with the other color. The next time I saw him, he had a copy or Pokemon Red and we did the restart for the starters deal.

The best was Ruby/Sapphire, though. They flushed out the exceptionally cheap Pokemon, and finally made the types balanced with each other. I was actually slightly annoyed by the release of FireRed/LeafGreen, because it meant that the cheapest Pokemon ever, Mewtwo, was back in action. And if anything, the bastard is cheaper than ever (for example, with the move set Psychic, Recover, Brick Break, and Shadow Ball).

My wife and one of my other frieds always get a copy of the game each and restart our own copy until we have a female of each starter. Then the breeding begins!

I don't really have a best moment, but the worst is obvious. I was trying to catch Ho-oh in Gold and doing a pretty poor job of it (I wasn't nearly as powerful as I should have been). Somewhere around try 20, it came up shiny. I failed once again to grab it.

I'd have to do some math, but I think I'm over 1,000 recorded hours of just handheld Pok?n by now. My copy of Sapphire is right around 350 now. That doesn't count dead batteries or resetting because I just did something stupid.
