An interesting editorial on the WarCry Network discusses Microsoft's $4 billion loss in their Xbox division over the past four years and how that money could have been spent more creatively. The mostly military-themed investment suggestions include a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, and a variety of Soviet-era armored tanks.
In addition, the commentary opines that Microsoft will win the console wars because they can easily shake off such hefty losses from one generation to the next (ditto for Sony). If you consider Sega's recent return to profitability as a software-only company and the 120 million+ PS2 and Xbox users shouting, "Mario! Mario!", can Nintendo's retreat from the console biz be far behind?
