Fan fakes GTA: Vice City Stories announcement?

Early this morning we got an anonymous tip to a site at the domain ViceCityStories.com, with the above splash screen announcing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories; a sequel to the unreleased GTA: Liberty City Stories for the PSP. A little later the site went down, leading us to do some digging to find out who the site really belonged to.

The site turned out to be registered via anonymous proxy at domain name registration site GoDaddy.com. Although this doesn't neccessarily rule out the possibility that Rockstar registered the domain, it doesn't match up with the way Rockstar registered LibertyCityStories.com or any of their other sites.

On the surface it looks like a GTA-crazy fan went a little too far. Still, the idea that Rockstar might bring the Vice City and San Andreas titles to the PSP isn't that far fetched. It'd be relatively easy to port the maps and models from the later games now that the codebase is running on the PSP via GTA: Liberty City Stories. The real question is; would PSP owners buy more than one GTA game for their PSP?

Gee, I don't know...would PS2 owners? Or Xbox owners? Or PC users?

Without *meaning* to be snarky... it's not like the PSP has an astounding line-up of must-have titles at the moment. Something like this would definately make me reconsider shelling out the $400 AU necessary to get one.

IMHO, Vice City was the most notable in the series, for the voice acting, soundtrack, and thematic plot lines.

1)can see quite a few white dots around "Vice City Stories", one reason it's probably a hoax.
2)I don't see Rock Star remaking something unless they really, really have to. I think they like to make original stuff.

It's more than likely photoshopped or something.

I think Liberty City Stories will probably be enough to sustain fans, especially with the multiplayer added on to it and it's own original story to itself.

Why announce it now, when it would only take away attention from Liberty City Stories?
And don't they always say Sony PSP™ or Sony Playstation Portable™? Never just "Coming to PSP."

It's a fake... If you do a who is, you find that it is not registered to Sam Houser as all the other GTA related sites are.

I would buy it if it was real. Vice city was my favorite out of the Trilogy on the PS2.

i don't think i have to say that it's fake; everyone can figure that out. i kind of expected this from rockstar, though. however, i would think the font would be different--vice city was set in the 80s, vice city stories should be set in a different decade. we need at least some twist on the original game.

I think it's safe to say it's a fake. But none the less, the person that done it is on the ball. The PSP games out at the moment are pretty poor ... unless you really like your sports games ... and everyone is, and has been for months, waiting for GTA:Liberty City Stories. Another GTA game on the PSP based around Vice City would most likely be very welcome. Plus, it's a cash cow waiting to be milked for Rockstar.
