Bizzare issues bizarre apology for PGR3 polygon count

Bizarre Creations, developers of the upcoming Project Gotham Racing 3 for the Xbox 360, have been lying to us all. They have been claiming that each car used in their racing sequel would have a polygon count of around 80,000. As it turns out, they were wrong, and they are apologizing – in actuality, each will have on average 96,000 polygons, with the polygon count going as low as 85,000 and as high as 105,000. For shame, Bizarre, that you must lie to us so blatantly…

As an act of contrition, Bizarre has released some new wallpaper-sized images of the McLaren F1 LM, and they are very beautiful, indeed. Do you recall a game that you disappointed by because it came out with a lower-than-promised polygon count?

"Wanna know Bizarre's dirty little secret?

While their cars, levels, and graphical effects will be at an all time high, the game itself will be running at a constant 30fps instead of 60fps. How about issuing an apology for that?

This cracks me up. This "inside information" is freely available on any videogame message board and videogame article. In numerous interviews Bizarre reps have thrown around the 30 FPS number on record.

(#51) I do apologize for not reading every press release to see what Bizarre reps have announced publically or not. The fact of the matter is that I was told that the game was going to be running at 30fps over six months ago, and although they have stated publically that they were trying hard to achieve 60fps, that was actually a lie. They gave up on that a long time ago. The decision was made quite early in production, and caused quite a rift in the development team. Maybe I didn't make that clear enough because I really didn't know that Bizarre had made a public announcement, but in my opinion, that's a dirty secret.
