Why would any DS owner trade it in for a PSP? Well, I sure wouldn't. It wouldn't really make a whole lot of sense right now as Mario Kart DS is going to be here within about a month and there's nothing on PSP I want to play.

Some people think that people are just buying DSes just because they're there and not because they want them. If the DS and PSP cost the same thing, I'd still be more likely to get a DS. I don't care about how much more powerful the PSP is-- the DS has more games *I* want to play. If somebody gave me a PSP, I'd probably trade it in for money towards future DS games I want.

"I heard Square enix will not support PSP because of the lack of sales"

uhm. I heard that the DS stopped production due to mercury poisoning in consumers that purchased it.

Square-Enix isn't gonna stop developing FF7:CC mid-development because the DS is selling better. PSP is NOT selling bad at all, it's just not selling as good as the DS. That is not at all bad sales.

Well everyone, very interesting posts indeed. I would just like to add that although the continuously unfolding DS and PSP competition is much fun to observe & discuss we can not rule out the portable that as of this writing, is still out-selling both of them.........GBA SP. Forget the micro. IMO, with the quietly released "brighter backlit screen" on the SP, the perfect portable is already here at only 80 bucks. Yes, its capabilities are limited, but how incredibly powerful does a portable gaming system need to be? Let the home consoles give us the theatre-like immersion and dazzling graphics we crave. As for me, with this amazing new screen (you have to see how much brighter and more vivid it is) and an excess of 700 games with more on the way, IMO The new gameboy SP is the winner. Proven quality design. Proven quality software. Thanks for reading, Dortman

Who cares if the DS is trouncing the PSP in sales. In the world we live in, it's all about style. What is Shaq going to be playing? A DS or a PSP? What is Paris Hilton going to be playing? A DS or a PSP? Today it's all about consumer whores and casual gamers. Style will win this battle before the day is out and style clearly goes to the PSP.

I'm still kind of shocked that up to this point the only "must have" app for the PSP is GTA:LSC. Although, Sony has done this before with the PS2. Nothing but crap for the first few months and then the gems started rolling in. They already have an ICO/Shadow of the Colossus type game in development as well as a GT and God of War game for the PSP.

All I'm saying is don't count the PSP out. It hasn't begun to fight and besides, give Sony some credit. They're pretty much the only handheld in history besides the Gamegear to do this well against Nintendo who's been pretty much dominating the market for what, 20+ odd years?

TBH, Nintendo has some well known aces up it's sleeve to coincide with any PSP release for the next year. If PSP gets a FF7 clone, Ninty can follow up with Zelda Ocarina of time DS, surely? Not to mention a Super Smash bros DS.

We haven't heard anything much about Zelda titles on the DS, but it's only a matter of time.An OOT port would be a cost-effective and profit-making opportunity that is surely too good for the Big N to miss.
