Doom sequel already in the works?
The Doom movie is not coming out
until this Friday, and yet key cast members have already signed on to do a sequel (assuming enough people are curious
enough to see the first film). Karl Urban and Rosamund Pike, who play siblings in the upcoming movie, have signed for
potential sequels to the videogame-to-film franchise.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has not committed to coming back for a 2nd outing, but is interested "and it's possible [he
could come back]," according to the man, himself.
Reviews of Doom have been hard to come by so
far, but should be hitting the net in the next few days. Will Doom earn the required funds for the studio to
greenlight a sequel?

Shouldn't be too hard to get financing I mean even House of the dead has a sequel FFS.

Well if you go thru one of Fargo's recent columns, he sort of hints that the movie actually wasn't that bad. He might have been sarcastic but I guess we'll have to find out next week.
As for the people who are throwing a hissy-fit b/c the monsters are not from hell...get over it...it's just a freakin movie.

Just a movie, and two hours of my time. I won't waste two hours for something terrible that requires me to "turn off my brain."

I think the reason half of these games sell so well is because of the storyline. Take that and the gameplay away and throw it on a screen and you have crap. If it's not broke, then don't fix it. The reason they keep doing this to games is because the fans will still throw their money away on it.
IF IT GETS A BAD REVIEW, THEN DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY! THAT JUST ENCOURAGES HOLLYWOOD TO RUIN ANOTHER GAME MOVIE!
I believe the halo movie might actually be good because the developers and creators of the story have a say in the movie's storyline.

Since I haven't (nor will I probably ever) seen the movie, I won't make any opinions on the title as a whole, But I will say this, and I say this with no hyperbole:
It has the worst trailer in cinematic history.

"I think the reason half of these games sell so well is because of the storyline."
that's funny...I never knew DOOM had a storyline lol

i'm excited about this movie but dreading the horrific possbilities of how bad it can be at the same time..
if i were them i wouldn't count on a sequel just yet.
but then again, tomb raider had a sequel.
Wolfkiller @ Dec 18th 2005 10:09PM
Bah. Another sign the movie is going to suck. If there is more than one person alive at the end to do a sequel, then it isn't DOOM godammit.
And fuck you Jago. Take something you love and let Hollywood fuck it up and see how you feel. One thing that makes DOOM awesome was it is one man vs. Hell. Now it's a bunch of people vs. mutated humans. That isn't DOOM.

Not sure if this is really news. It's routine for any movie that could become a franchise to lock-in their talent for several movies.
(I guess we now who WON'T die in the movie!)
But seriously, I think you need a writer and director attached to a movie for it to be "in the works".
Ryuukuro @ Dec 18th 2005 10:09PM
Even if the movie turns out to be better than Citizen Kane, I think the Rock needs to choose better roles. Despite what so many others say, I think he has serious talent and potential and he's been wasting it on lesser films. All he needs is a good "I want an Oscar" film and he'll start getting the good scripts.
free-computer-help @ Dec 18th 2005 10:09PM
Wow, the movie is being released this Friday? I didn't know it would be out so soon.
I really hope it is a good movie.
