Microsoft has always bet on their early launch as a key to success in
the next generation console war, but Xbox UK boss Neil Thompson thinks his territory may have the best advantage.
Thompson has recently stated that he "wouldn't be surprised if [the PS3 launch in Europe] is not until Spring
2007."
If this were true, that would give Microsoft well over a year head start, as it is set to launch in early December
this year. Sony has been repeatedly giving Spring 2006 as the PS3 launch date, which will likely be in Japan only, with
the PS3 launching in North American and Europe sometime late 2006, which is only a difference of a few months from
Thompson's prediction.
If Thompson's prediction were true, will it hurt Sony at all? With some a gap in time between consoles, would more
gamers be inclined to have both an Xbox 360 and a PlayStation 3?
