IGN's reviewed the Doom movie that's coming out this week,
and, with some major caveats, declares it "easily the
best videogame-to-film adaptation yet."
In the end, only three stars out of five were awarded to the space-marine flick, probably due to the "thin character
development, cheesy dialogue and lack of story." But, hey,
if this "decent albeit standard action film" can make enough money for its assorted backers, then you can bet
the Doom sequel will be out (or at least in
production) before you can say Spider-Man 3.
But you know why you want to see this movie. (Well, besides
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and the standard Aliens
sci-fi conventions, that is.) You want that FPS action
from the games on the big screen. Regarding the extended FPS portion of the film, IGN states: "It is easily the coolest
and most invigorating sequence Doom has to offer." If the movie turns out better than Resident Evil,
there will certainly be much to be invigorated about.
