This is to everyone stating that Jack Thompson should be killed: Don't make a martyr out of him. Roughly 2000 years ago (give or take up to a century or so), a young Jewish man, a Roman citizen as well, walked around the Middle East followed by 12 apostles, telling people that they should love each other and treat each other as friends. Out of fear of his growing number of followers, his government executed him in what is likely the most painful, drawn out method ever devised.
Because of this, his followers beleived the truth, that their government was trying to shut him up, and in less than a century, Imperial Rome had fallen, and was replaced with the zealous Holy Roman Empire.
And that was how the most damaging religion in earth's history began. Not with the man, but with his death.
Now, I know that someone like Jack won't have that big of an effect, but it will armor those who agree with him as well as sway the opinions of those who are not in agreement with his methods, but do agree with his ideas.

LOL This guy is a freaking nut job. At first I figured that he was nothing but an attention whore. But I realize now that he is far more dangerous because some people in the mainstream media actually buy into what he is saying. I won't go so far as to claim that Jack Thompson blatently lies to people to further his goals. But I do feel that he is ignorant and misinformed on many matters. Some of these mainstream media figures actually believe the garbage that he spews. We need to bring his bigotry and insanity to everyones attention. I personally have purchased a "I Hate Jack Thompson" shirt from the Penny Arcade site. I now get stopped and asked several times a day what the shirt is about, I then explain and most people agree that Jack is a douche. I encourage everyone to do the same.

Jack Thompson is the kind of person who 500 years ago would've probably been hanged, challenged to duels (and lost) at least a hundred times by now... well okay, once.... he'd be dead before the other 99 times he pissed someone off.

I think the argument that "if we just ignore him, he'll go away" is flawed. There are plenty of media outlets with no interest in seeing thier favorite fear-rouser go away, so he'll never have much trouble finding SOMEONE willing to put him on the air. better that he be disbarred, thus robbing him of the podium he so frequently stands upon.

The underlying point of his message is good: Children should NOT be playing M rated games, however JT seems to be on a crusade to wipe video games from the face of the earth and he is focusing his attacks on the wrong people. He should be educating parents about the video game industry in general, how it's not all PacMan and Pong any more - that gamers as a whole have grown up and the industry has responded - so be careful when you go to buy little Jimmy a game. Harping on the retailers to make sure they get ID for M rated games is good but what happens when the parent buys the game for their child.
When GTA:SA came out I was in EBGames buying my copy (and shockingly enough i know, I am not a cop killing gangbang thug after playing it lol) when a dad with his 10 at the most son came up behind me to also buy a copy. The sales clerk point blank asked if it was for his son (since the son was carrying the game around), the dad responded yes and the sales clerk proceded to warn him of the violence/nudity/unappropriateness of the Mature rated game. "My son's mature" was the response. At this point I stepped in to say "Sir, it's really not an appropriate game for your son" to which he responded with "it's none of your business what I buy for my son"
I wish the clerk had a polaroid and taken the guys pic - had him sign it that he'd been warned about the game and put it in a "don't take crap from this guy if he comes back to return the game" folder.
We need to educate the parents - we need more parents like my cousin who, has told her kids if they aren't sure if they are allowed to play a game to call and ask. If she says no - they don't whine and complain they just say ok because thats the way it is.

"I wonder if there's a law against falsely accusing people numerous times."

Yep. That falls under the category of slander. Slander is basically lying about someone publically to defame the person.

If it is truthful when you verbally bitch slap someone, it isn't against the law (It could fall under harrassment, but donating money to a charity and writing in 'because Jack wouldn't" is too stupid to be counted as harrassment).

He is trying to say that Penny Arcade is slandering him. They aren't. Based on the information, they have not spread one lie about him. So if he can't learn the law, then he needs to be disbarred. Until that happens, I am enjoying the fact that he is constantly redefining the term of a household expletive.
