A modder by the alias "G-gnome" has nearly finished a project that was conceived nearly a year ago. The aim? To turn a PC case into the most frightening technological item ever created by man; a nuclear warhead (and you thought your Gateway was bad).
The main aims for the case design were:
-
All stainless steel construction
-
Low noise (noisy nukes are sooo '60s…)
-
Red LED timer display. Able to count down from the start of a LAN event and continue throughout until the end (you'd seriously hesitate shooting this guy in CounterStrike. I mean, he has the keys!)
-
Keylock switches, Keypad control, red flashing indicators (no nuke is complete without blinking lights)
-
Easily upgradable/accessable (so you can add a couple of Megatons?)
-
Tough, shock-absorbing construction, able to take a knock (still, you better not drop it)
I think the only thing missing from the list is an ironic "Bang" flag that pops out when the countdown reaches zero.
Fellow blogger and Joystiq editor Vlad Cole just dropped this to me over AIM: "i'd like to see someone try to take that PC to a LAN party via the subway".
