The multiplayer capacity in Call of Duty
2 (Xbox 360) has been quite the enigma. In late September, TeamXbox reported that the game would feature 64-player support over
Xbox Live—that article was quickly removed. At a media event last week, a member of Infinity Ward's development team told
us that the Xbox 360 version would only feature 8-player support. Now, in an interview with NLG, Infinity Ward's CEO
Grant Collier has confirmed this 8-player figure:
"On the box, it says 8 players. We have to take into account the lowest common denominator. Player's internet connections very so much. If you have a host, who has a lot of bandwidth and the players also have good bandwidth then you could have 16 or more in those good circumstances."
So, technically the capacity is 8-players, but Infinity Ward isn't going to prevent you from pushing past that limit. Fair enough.
