Doom movie review: The worst of both worlds
Here's
what Cinematical had to say about the feature-film
version of the classic first-person shooter: "Doom isn't operatically bad; it's just derivative, inert and
dull… all it offers us is shooting and shouting, while strapping the audience firmly in the passenger's side with
nothing to do but watch and yawn."
This is in stark contrast to the reception a gamer site (namely, IGN) had to say in
the review we linked to earlier, but even they gave the
movie only three out of five stars. Perhaps it's the difference in the cultural backgrounds of the reviewers that's
responsible for such a difference of opinion (the reviewer here believes the FPS sequence near the end of the movie
will be "confusing to game fans"), but Cinematical's film critic found little to redeem the Urban-Rock adventure.
Gamers may have had their standards lowered by the terrible game-to-movie adaptations in the past, but try not to go
into the theaters tomorrow with your expectations set too high. We all know
where that can lead. Hopefully,
some
free loot will make it all better.

AintItCoolNews.com has reviews up from Harry and another reviewer. Harry says he watched it through the eyes of a gamer and loved it for what it was. The other reviewer basically called it a stinking pile of doggie poo.

Not to worry, Chiablo: overall, the movie's still certifiably rotten at 36%. (A 60% rating is required to be considered fresh.) I still feel bad, though, that another bad game-to-movie adaptation may have been made, but it'll be interesting to see Doom for myself so I can make my own decision on its merits.

Critics are full of crap. They watch to many movies and it makes them bored unless its so thrilling they crap their seat. If you watched EVERY movie that came out you'd think most of them were bland and boring. Maybe they are just bored of movies in the first place. Water world was "one of the worst movies to ever come out and a waste of special effects" but personally I liked the movie and I thought the critics were WAY to harsh on the flick. Same thing with games. There are alot of good games that get bad reviews these days. Screw the critics.

"Easily the best videogame-to-film adaptation yet." gives it about a rotten rating of 2% to begin with, as a statement like that means absolutely nothing in regards to if it is a good movie or not. And right now it's at 27% (and falling as more reviews come in), so I guess that comment is correct! It's really really really bad, but not as bad as the other game-to-movie movies! Oh boy, I'm going to run out and preorder eleventy billion tickets.

I loved this quote from a critic:
"If you go up to the box office window and ask for Doom, you'll get what you pay for."

I'm not expecting much of this movie. I expected this movie after the first time i saw the trailer that it will be as horrid as Resident evil 1 and 2.
I was waiting since the first rumors of Doom the movie came out and will be utterly dissapointed unless i keep my expectations low and they will be. I also waited for Resident evil movie to come out since i saw that litle pamflet in the game case of "want to be in resident evil movie?" which was like 10 years ago lol.
Stupid as i am il watch it >_>
