They should have the NES version running on the DS lower screen and the 3D version above it while you play, so you can be impressed constantly.

Those graphics with the FF3 story...

can't...

resist...

Seriously, it's almost terrifying the great game library that this quirky little system is getting.

Wasn't FFIII a SNES game?
I didn't know there was an NES version as well. Was that released in the US?

Man I'm so pleased I ordered a DS yesterday. Castlevania, Final Fantasy and even the rumoured Chrono Trigger DS (I know you can do that for me SE :P). RPGs wise the DS is the way to go and I think they will be the DSs saving grace against the PSP :)

ppl are such n00bs...this FF3 is the REAL FF3...the SNES FF3 was really FF6...just called FF3 cuz at the time it was only the 3rd one released in the states. hence...unless you played it on rom, you've never played this one before (which makes me think that the guy saying how good the story was is also mistaking this for FF6)

Damn, I really didn't want to have to buy a DS, but this one will push me over the edge.

I mean, it has a great library and all, no doubt, but THIS game is what'll get this cheap bastard's cash.

Well done, Nintendo. My wallet hates you.

This is an even better comparison to add, but could Joystiq please host it themselves? This is someone's Photobucket, and I'd hate to ruin their bandwidth:

Now I don't feel so bad about selling my FFIII cartridge on eBay earlier this year ;)

"hence...unless you played it on rom, you've never played this one before"

Unless you've been to Japan, bought a Famicom, and bought a used copy of this game, and brought it back home to the states to enjoy.

But thanks for assuming!

Very Impressive. I played the ffIII rom for a bout 5 minutes and hated the graphics, This was like 5 years ago when graphics meant the world to me so i couldnt stand reverting to oldschool. But now, I have absolutely no reason not to buy this game upon release. I think I'm going to pre-order, or at least reserve a copy.

I'm 100% sure that pic was made by a few users at 2chan, not cub3d.
