In the rather entertaining MSNBC article, "For the Fanboys", Tom Luftus opens fire on Hollywood's love affair with the
video game industry and snuffs out every bastard child from Mario to Lara. Absent from the hit list are the martial
arts fiascos Street Fighter and Double Dragon, but Luftus manages to round up the biggest budgeted
stinkers.
Why is it that comic book-inspired films can occasionally score a hit (X-Men, Spider-Man, the first two Supes), but the gaming flicks constantly miss the mark? Maybe Mr. Peter Jackson can help reverse this trend with 2007's Halo. In the meantime, we'll have Bloodrayne, Dungeon Siege, and Far Cry to Boll us over in 2006.
