Running With Scissors, the company behind the Postal series of games, has announced that it has signed a
deal with Uwe Boll to create a Postal movie. The game title was an extremely controversial game when it was
released in 1997, and was removed from store shelves after a hissy fit by Senator Joe Lieberman
(sound familar?).
Uwe Boll's record for converting games to movies is widely ridiculed within the games and movie industries. Boll's
House of the Dead has an abysmal 2.2/10 rating on the Internet Movie
Database with one user comment describing the film as a "Action-filled crap-fest". So why-oh-why did they choose
Boll as the director? According to Running With Scissors' CEO Vince Desi "He understands the subject matter and has an
appreciation and affinity for controversy and political incorrectness." If his definition of controversy is making bad
movies out of game scripts then Vince is spot on.
Ironically, Postal has the bare minimum of what you'd call a plot, so at least that reduces the chances of Boll changing anything too much and annoying fans of the game. So fingers crossed Uwe will create an entertaining horror/action movie with a bucket load of gore and a side helping of social irony and political incorrectness. Yah, like that's gonna happen…
