In a wide-ranging interview with MTV, MS VP
Peter Moore touched on the fact that two new Xbox 360 titles
from Rare will be announced in the spring of 2006.
Both next-gen titles already have "almost two years of development already in the books," and, according to Moore,
they will "leverage Rare's incredible ability to broaden the demographic that are attracted to the consoles."
So can we expect Rare to resurrect some of its classic franchises like Killer Instinct and
Battletoads, or should we expect more demographic-expanding dreck like Grabbed by the Ghoulies (or
yet one more cartoon platformer)? Granted, what most Rare fans seem to want are those titles that simply don't fit the
audience-broadening requirements of Moore's statement. Hopefully, MS won't throw us a curveball like Mr. Pants
in order to fill the next-gen gaps in their family-friendly genres requirements.
