According to the an Xbox Live agent, Halo 2 does
look better through emulation on the 360 than on the original Xbox, and not just because of better cable
connections or HD screens.
Rather than requiring a
retail re-release, the old game could be enhanced by a better version of the anti-aliasing available for PS1 games
on the PS2. Our source also made a quality comparison between that of "playing an nes game (orig xbox), then playing
emulated with filters (xb360. no jaggies)."
If MS can pull through with prettier versions of original Xbox titles on the 360, then the whole Xbox
backwards-compatible issue might turn out for the best after all (well, at least for the more popular titles that are
covered). Whether filters for 8-bit games are a good thing or not, however, is a question for another time.

Better Halo 2 graphics via 360 emulation?

I think most of us would prefer it to run in 720p if any enhancement was to be made...

Maybe they'll add/patch in the realtime shadows that were shown in one of the E3 trailers...

HAHA Yeah he showed you and serves you right aswell you jackass you think anyone cares about your first post? Nah It wont make your dad come home.
Anyway.... yeah I can't wait to play Halo and Halo 2 on the 360 and play through them all again, my only regret is that I will lose ALL MY PRECIOUS ICONS (heroic, legendary etc) that I earned by completing it 3 times.

This shouldnt be such hyped news.
This will be the case for all the consoles that support backwards compatibility.
Perhaps now the PS3 will support AA properly and all those scary jaggies on the PS2 games will disappear.
Playing GTA:SA on the PS2 and then moving to an AA enabled PC version make a hugely noticable difference.
Then again, if each game needs different profiles i suppose that does add the possibility of patching the game, HDR anyone?

Wow. That Halo 3 pic is wonderful. I can't believe how realistic it is. */sarcasm*
Halo 2 will look alot better on the 360, but I'm sure they'll still re-release it. If not for new features, but for all the extra money they would rake in.

If only they would re-add the wonderful light blooms we saw in the E3 announcement trailer.
And there were realtime shadows in Halo 2, just not the SELF-SHADOWING we saw in the E3 trailer.

I bet it will look good, now if they could get on those weapon balancing issues taht they need to fix in order to make the game a decent game.

if i remember correctly, the main graphical complaint made by reviewers and fans was the rampant texture pop-in, which became problematic in cut scenes especially. their explanation worked for me: it was either no load times, or no pop-in, and i think they made the right choice. maybe with the enormous amount of texture memory available to the 360, the texture caching will be vastly improved. that, and a second core could theoretically be used for texture resampling during the game.

I didn't think they could make Halo 2 any shinier, but by golly they're trying.

The goal of Microsoft and BC is to get 100% BC. They will start with the most played games and will go from there until the community wants them to stop.
Goal - 100%

makes since seeing how the xbox was holding halo 2's potential back...
bungie had to cancel options due to it. for instance: no flame thrower. they said it didn't look good on the xbox, but on the 360...
