In stark contrast to the joyful Shangri-La that is Electronic Arts, BioWare Corp. was recognized this week as one of the Top 100 Employers of Canada. The creative force behind such critically-acclaimed RPGs as Baldur's Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Jade Empire, the Edmonton-based developer was among 55,000 corporate applicants analyzed by Mediacorp Canada for this honorable mention. The recognition is based on HR practices, company growth, and community service. Hats off to BioWare founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk for creating a pleasant work environment that delivers consistently high-ranking titles. They should be careful, though. EA was one of Fortune's 100 best places to work in 2003. Is this recognition a curse?
