The University of Illinois at Chicago has
developed a brand new video game for the purpose of training public health workers and emergency responders in handling
viral outbreaks and epidemics. Currently, the game runs a scenario where thousands of people may have been exposed to
anthrax, and players of the game must handle real-life situations, such as dispensing drugs and counseling hysterical
patients. Does this remind anyone else of the World of Warcraft
outbreak?
The game is coming along well and hopefully becomes an efficient and effective replacement of the current real-time
simulation, which proves to be costly and time-consuming. How else do you see technological improvements in the field
of gaming inadvertently aiding other facets of life?
