GameBanshee chatted with Namco producer Chris Wren for an update on their new hack-and-slash RPG, Mage Knight: Apocalypse, based on the popular WizKids miniatures game.
On the surface, there isn't much to set this apart from Dungeon Siege or Champions of Norrath, and it would appear to lack the depth of Neverwinter Nights. However, each of the five playable races will use their hometowns for unique quests and crafting facilities that will add some replayability to the 25-hour single player campaign.
Four of your buddies can participate online as the other playable characters and the AI will take the helm of any unmanned main characters when you venture to their town. Iron Phoenix developer InterServ is using a homemade engine to drive Apocalypse and while crisp, it doesn't touch Oblivion.
You can put your miniatures away when the game ships in Q1.
