Re: PS3 having a larger installed userbase due to name recognition...

Theoretically that's a great concept, however, it's just as common to have ground lost in the next iteration of a company's product line regardless of their name. How many times have we seen shifts in market share with a company having lower than predicted sales or vice versa?

I don't think I could ever go by name recognition alone after seeing how things went with Atari, Nintendo, or Sega. This shit's too unpredictable, especially so early out.

Population of US about 300 million
Lets Say 5 percent of theses people own a glorious 60 inch HD TV thats 15 million people, now if i spent 5000 grand on this beautiful tv i want my moneys worth in movie content, so even if a 5th of these people buy a PS3 that is 3 million units sold just in a year
Sold at a 100 dollar lost thats 300 million dollar loss, but if I sale 5 blu ray movies for a 10 dollar profit each to each person i make half of that money back and establish half of Microsoft projected fan base without haveing to count the gamers that do not have HD tvs

I am no expert but i think sony is goin to sale a lot of PS3's BUT only if they can get blu ray to take off.

That being said I just read an article that speculates that Sony is not providing an online service but isntead is having the each developer decide if they would like that option.
Im kind of iffy on this seeing the success of live. But if Sony isnt managing an online system how much do u think it will cut off development?
Im not sure how live works so ignore this if u do and explain it to me but wont live eventually be hacked like personal computers? if live goes down the whole network goes down and we have xbox viruses all over the place The main reason i stick with console and PC is bc console i push a button PC i kick a computer
If each devolper does their own network for their individual game wouldnt it be harder to "hack" into these games because theirs no universal standard. Much how PCs get virused while macs stay fresh?

Wew long post

Ok i hear people saying 360 is going to undercut PS3 next xmas but arent we all forgetting about the revolution? isnt it suppose to be the most affordable of the three systems? if rev is $200, MS is $300 and PS3 is $400 why would i want a 360 when i can get a rev which works alright for the "not really into gaming but imma gamer person" with the old school classics people like me are familiar with
or work 10 more hrs to get a technological supeior PS3(assuming the ps3 is tech superior which no one has a clue)?

Like i said im no expert but imma wait and see what happens

The biggest thing that people neglect to mention is that at this stage Microsoft still has made no breakthrough in the Japanese market.

Even if they manage to take a small lead the N.A. videogame market, it will take a miracle of biblical proportions for them to do the same in the Japanese market. As long as Sony has access to the resources resulting from their superior position in the Japanese market, MS is fighting a losing battle to become #1.

When PS3 comes out, Microsoft will do one thing...

Halo 360 Pack
Halo 3 will sell seperately from the console already millions and millions...
But the pack will boost the 360 consoles as well, by great actually.
That's my prediction for next Christmas :D

Unfortunately one of the bigger problems with Blu-Ray is that you will need a HDVI port on your HDTV in order for it to work. Most of the HDTVs out there don't have this port, I know my HDTV doesn't have it, neither do any of my friends who own HDTVs. For this reason alone I see both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD not being adopted as fast as they should. I know I wont be buying either player until there is a way for them to work on my tv.

So for $75 more I get a BluRay player instead of DVD? Fine! For $60 more I get a cell processor instead of a PowerPC processor? Fine! For $10 more I get bluetooth? Fine!

Where do I sign up? To me, NOT having those features would be the problem, not HAVING them. Those prices are not out of whack at all.

If Sony can sell the shit out of blu-ray, then they wouldn't mind leaving a hefty price tag for Ps3 for a few years. Also look at the amount of exclusives and games that casual users of PlayStations enjoy.

Lots of people are buying DVDs now. So imagine the amount of royalties it would get.

MS, didn't have to do much for 360. Its just a refurbished xbox with just the numbers 360 on it.

MS should be more of a worry for Nintendo, seriously. That looks like the first Nintendo product I'm interested in years!

Also don't expect Sony to do what MS did and offer two separate systems. Another mistake by MS.
