A phone call to my EB last night revealed that they were getting 60 units (no specific numbers regarding core/premium) and that I was in the first shipment for a core system.

Bah, I meant premium system.

Also, for what it is worth, I preordered back in June as soon as the store was taking preorders.

Well, I also did not make the first shipment at EB. I pre-ordered from an EBX at the Christiana Mall in Delaware. Bummer, I'm in Boston now so it looks like I probably won't get one when I go home for the break. Make sure you call your local EB, because this isn't looking good unless you ordered it as soon as the 360 was announced...

I think we are all wrong. I didn't see any xbox 360 lounges being built in the US or any specific stores to sell such product. Remember MS already has the US. it was overseas sales that didn't do good for the Xbox and knowing MS like we do. They are going to attack the asian market (i.e. sony's birthplace) where they didn't do so well. We'll be lucky if we even get 400,000. Asia is a harder market because they market 100's of thousands of games, majority (sim and reality based) but its a lot more competition there than here. Heck Xbox is the only American console. So I think they will fight for it more than we will and they will also have the abundance. I would personally like to see all these early Xbox 360 winners if there are so many of them why only a pic on 1 little girl with one.

#13 "Why is everyone so hyped about the 360? Sure, it's coming out in a month or something, but the PS3 is going to crush the 360, simply put. I am more than happy to wait a few months for the PS3."

Maybe because we enjoyed our Xboxes and we're looking forward to the next one? Are you that brain dead? And I will guarantee you right now that you will not be playing PS3 in a few months. You'll be lucky to be playing one a year from now.

Sony is only saying a spring release right now to get people like you to wait and skip the 360. They pulled the same sort of stunts when going against the Dreamcast. Tell me how it is that they're going to release in a few months when Blu-ray standards keep changing and the design of their console is admittedly a work-in-progress? I'm telling you right now, it'll be around holiday season '06 before you'll be playing PS3.

and now look at the poor old dreamcast. Though I still own two (one white and one black). Dreamcast came out before everyone else. had a keyboard and internet before anyone and ps2 and xbox come out with the same specs a year after and we eat it up like flies to shit.

You complain that they only get 21 systems and you number 30 can't fit in there. Well what can they do? why sit and cry like a baby. You expect EB to go complain to M$? So you wait another week. Why cry? I mean is it their faault that store only gets 21? NO! This preorder thing is so stupid. I know I could walk in and buy one launch day. I may have to go to Target or Toys-R-Us instead of EB or Gamestop but it just means I don't get it in an EB bag. Just wait untill the second shipment because once you get it and you look back on all your complaining you won't care you got it slightly later.

I don't quite understand why you are attacking my comment in this manner. I'm not upset or "crying like a baby" as you put it, I just don't think it is a good or fair buisness practice to take people's money and not deliver on their promise. When you think about the number of people who put $50-$400 down during the summer in order to GUARNTEE (their words not mine) a system at launch who aren't getting one, that adds up to a hell of a lot of money that Gamestop/EB has to collect interest on, invest, or just put twards their quarterly earnings report.

I think that Microsoft is just going to give out a short supply on the first shipment to sell out, and then a huge supply on the second shipment so they can sell more for Christmas. They did this with ps2, psp, xbox, and Halo 2. I also think this because i got an inside tip from the guy at gamestop. ; -)

Please all, don't be so gullible. This is an old trick used by COUNTLESS companies (Yes even Microsoft) to make the consumer pick it up on launch day (or before). REMEMBER the gas rumor that went around after Katrina and how everyone panicked!! And to all the people that were "bumped", you need to report it to Microsoft and the Better Business Bureau. More than likely, the General Manager, Employees and their friends are hogging them to ransom them off to you (online or in person) for twice, if not three times the amount. My friend works for Best Buy and that he's saying technically (after employees, friends, etc) get "first dibs", then you can purchase yours. He also said this is going to happen at ALOT of retail stores that carry them. This is a clear violation of SEVERAL retail ethic codes. So, with that said, if you're one of the first people in line at launch time, walk into a Best Buy, see only 1 of 2 Premium Systems, ASK TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER IMMEDIATELY! I do not work for Microsoft nor Sony, I just hate it when I see a clear violation of the law (and when someone who doesn't even play video games try to make a quick buck off other's expense and have "Little Timmy" XBOX360less this Christmas). I'm all for Capitalism, but not this way.

So when is the next shipmnent coming out? this totally ruins my plans to sell it? there is nothing i get from this? there will be no way i can get a 1000 bucks for it after christmas? this makes me so mad

Now they don't have enogh for the people who paid and waited

Microsoft already allotes a number to be given out (to say TV Promotions, Radio Contests, etc) and that should not effect your pre-order. Once again guys (and gals) there is a 80% possibility yall are being had by the store you preordered it from. Also, please look at your receipt and store legal verbage concerning your Preorder. I am explaining this to you because if money did exchange hands and you were physically given a date (on your receipt or store sigange) to receive you Xbox and it does not happen, you CAN seek mometary damages from the retailer. People have sued for much less!! I talked to my friend again and it is starting to become clear MOST will be sold by others (which lends me to believe there won't be many in the stores once the employees, etc get their hands on them). He also said after an employee purchases one, he or she must IMMEDIATELY take it to their car, home, etc (YOU JUST CANNOT LEAVE IT IN THE STORE such as break rooms, etc). They are also getting around the 1 360 per employee rule which applies to most retailers by getting older employees who don't play to purchase another one for them. "BUMPERS": When you get that infamous call, ask for the person on the phones name, job title and store ID number. When he/she asks why, explain because you will be reporting it to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) under a Fradulent Claim and Microsoft. You people are not believing me, but some of these $8 an hour employees and going to have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS (in the thousands of dollars) at your expense. Funny how the people that won one for free are getting theirs on time, but the actual stores (who receive the actual 360) are getting cut back? Doesn't make any sense from a Retail Perspective (anyone that went to school or has work in upper Retail Management will also agree).

A few things. I used to be a manager for a Gamestop and I currently work in the majors department of Costco. At my Costco warehouse we were scheduled to get 24 units in, but instead we have had our order doubled by Microsoft. The reason is according to MS, that because certain retailers took too many preorders (MS told all retailers not to do this) and because those same retailers are selling the 360 games before launch (against MS's wishes), MS has cut those retailers quantities in half. They increased some stores and decreased others. The Wal-Mart nearby is now only getting 5 units in. The gamestop I used to work at is getting 2. As far as I know Costco and Bestbuy are the best bets for getting a launch day system.

Thanks for the info H. Johnson. I have an update concerning this problem. I just received info concerning the main retail stores. Most (like Walmart and Best Buy) will only have a MAXIMUM 5-7 units of the Premium Bundle. All the other XBOX's will be the Core ($299) package. Also, ALL RETAIL STORES have been notified under no circumstances can an XBOX360 be put on layway. They must be paid for at the time of purchase by CASH, DEBIT or CREDIT CARD (it is up to the GM to accept checks). Also, ALL Walmart has been told they must do either #1 the ticket lottery for those standing in line OR #2 first come, first serve basis. The Super Walmarts (which are the 24 hour ones) will start selling them at 12:01am. The other Walmart stores which are not, will sell them when they open on Tuesday morning. ALSO The Walmart Corporation has issued a warning that NO EMPLOYEE can purchase them at launch date. Employees are being told they must wait for the second shipment to come in by their General Manager. Now, the very bad news: It has been confirmed by MS the next shipment will be after Christmas. However, their PR person has said this might change (but will only change to the end of December, sometime after Christmas). All this info I have shared is from 2 friends of mine (one who's a General Manager and the other who's a District Manager at 2 separate Walmarts). I hope this helps.

I just talked to a Wal-Mart employee (in Texas) who told me that the Wal-Marts here had received the premium systems (the Wal-Mart closest to me received only 2) but DID NOT get the core systems AT ALL. If that's true, and most of the stores around here only got 2 to 5 premium systems, people are gonna be pissed!!

Well, i went to our local mall here in Texas and the EB Games in there is already on their 4th shipment. However, there is a Sam Goodys in that mall, too which is not too popular when it comes to gaming. I ended up getting a pre-order for the 2nd shipment. After that, I went to a Wal-Mart, which had a very small line for the 360 launch, but there were only 12 XBox 360s ready for sale at midnight. I was the 13th in line so I just left because i wanted a premium one and they only had 2 of those. I figured that I'd just wait because mine will probably be here this week or next, and I stayed away from the local Gamestop because they're already backed all the way to October.

Hi guys! Here's another update: If you've noticed, there was a scare on the 360's on Tuesday morning. Some 360 Premiums (without accessories) reached as high as $2200 on Ebay. But then that afternoon, the prices dropped considerably. This was due to 2 reasons. The first one is that MS gaming department has been receiving FLOODS of phone calls about the shortage at some stores and the abundance at other stores by retailers and retail managers. Whoever strategized the distribution of these totally goofed (or only looked at a map to determine)! It seems some retail chains in the "rural areas" received more than enough, while some in very busy areas received very little. Problem number 2 is the most crucial: While not getting flooded by angry parents and stores, there seems to be a problem with some XBox360 "locking up, freezing, zero screen, etc.." After reading scores of emails about this, it seems to be a Condensation problem. IF YOU HAVE PURCHASED AN XBOX360 OR PLAN TO PURCHASE ONE, YOU MUST LET IT SIT OUT OF THE BOX UNPLUGGED IN ROOM TEMPERATURE FOR AT LEAST 1 HOUR!! This will prevent you from being one of those angry customers. As usual, MS will not address this issue or even admit it is happening, BUT YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! Also spoke with my 2 Walmart friends (see top) and they are now being told there is a possibility MS will ship more out before XMAS (told by a MS Rep). This is another reason the prices dropped on Ebay. Here's the bad news: They are only doing it to fill those Pre Orders who were "bumped" (they are receiving ALOT of hate mail and possible legal actions concerning this..good job guys). They will also distribute some to retail stores but my 2 friends and others who work at various retail stores have already informed me that EMPLOYEES WILL HAVE FIRST CRACK AT THEM BEFORE THE PUBLIC, DUE TO THEM NOT BEING ABLE TO BUY THEM AT LAUNCH. They were promised by their respective Corporations that they are authorized and can purchase the NEXT Shipment (which everyone thought was January, but now may change) .They also confirmed that this is being done at every major retail chain (not just Walmart, Target and Best Buy), so there probably won't be any available for the customer to buy (Hence, they keep telling all customers who come in they will not have any until January). Hope this helps guys.

Even though i haven't yet layed a hand on the major big boy known as the full circle x360 , with out any hastle i would more diffintly wait 5-6 months for my all time favourite and the all time number one the sony playstation but only one thing that would stop me from have a sony's next generation console is the price cause no one/thing can ever put their hand in my pockets unless pamela anderson or beyounce so wat am tryin to say is that is not worht the hastling and the work out of suspension of money just for a x360 which does'nt not deserve the full circle name cause it is not truly full cirlce from wat i herd from rumors.

yeah, yeah, yeah x360 i got i couple reasons why i will wait for the sony's next generation console the ps3. #1 first of all 360 contains an disturbing habit that would piss the heck of a player.and is not worth the name it is given 360 why i say that it is because that was such a horibble release and the system yet does not complete the circle in its performance and style such as size and the air fun. but for most why i would skip the 360 and wait for the sony's ps3 is the sony's console has and will always have better and funner games then any other gaming console wether in sports ,actions, RPG's ext.. sony console will always be the top of home entertainment.
