With films based on
Halo,
Postal, and a catalog of other gaming titles
scheduled for production, it comes as little surprise to see Konami's popular Castlevania franchise taking the
Hollywood plunge. Alien vs. Predator director Paul Anderson has been tapped to write and direct the big screen debut of
clan Belmont as part of a deal with Crystal Sky Pictures and Impact Pictures. Hopefully, they'll tone down the
androgynous look and feel of the recent games or else they'll have to cast actresses for the male roles. Great, Peter
Pan takes on Dracula.

Nooooooooooo! /vader
Paul W.S. Anderson is the worst thing to happen to any movie. Single-handedly destroyed two franchises with AvP, which I find particularly impressive and unsettling at the same time. Looks like the Belmonts are gonna be killing Dracula to a punk-rock soundtrack, quick cuts, music-video camera angles, and in Antarctica.

#3 totally beat me to it. Haven't they watered down this franchise enough?

Haven't they watered down DOOM or HALO or RE or FF Series enough? Come on now, as hard as you all try to act dis-interested, you know you want to see it. I bet even if Uwe Boll made it you would see it... =P

The last Dracula movie to come out was Van Helsing and that sucked with a capital "S". I turned it off about 20 min. in.

I just saw AVP again since it was on HBO. Remember when the predator makes a spear and sheild for the lead actress? LMAO that was so gay. The only really cool part was where the predator did a flip and stuck a spear in the Queen Alien.
So, if he is making Castlevania, look for one cool scene, stupid plot and lots of cheese. :-)

I think we DO need an androgynous lead. Orlando Bloom as Jean-Pierre Belmont.

I always tought Van Helsing was castlevania renamed. I think the story sucked and that dracula looked like those rocknroll vampires of american movies, but it was kind of what a castlevania movie would be like. I wish Tim Burton would direct this with Johnny Depp as Simon Belmont. Or maybe Francis Ford Coppola. Too bad this probably will end up like those Resident Evil "sucks for everyone, great for fans, but they are fans in the end who would like anything" way.
Can remember what Van Helsing was about. Alien Vs Predator sucked also. Everyone wanted this movie for so long, so they totally made a turd of it. I rather watch Mario Bros with John Leguizamo as Luigi.

I called it awhile back when it was rumored that "other" things were in the works for the franchise! Pa-Own-Ed!

I believe it is our duty as the collective gamer subculture to inform Hollywood that it needs to STOP screwing up our most cherished videogame memories with crappy, make-some-cash-for-utter-trash/game-to-movie rip-offs. Oh, the price I would pay to have a die-hard gamer slap Uwe Boll across the face at the next awards ceremony on live TV... Or perhaps a public apology from "The Rock" for sucking so hard.

If you find a guy with longish hair and looks good enough for the girls to fawn over, the casting shouldn't be a problem...

Troy actually wasn't that bad. Much better than Van Helsing was - which isn't saying much. Hugh Jackman should stick with X-Men or find better writers.

The movie should have Alucard as the main character and the belmonts as supporting. The only way they can really pull this off is if every room in the castle is authentic and a reminder of the game which means a shit load of detail and some pretty cool shit. I think the castlevania games out now do not have a large enough map. The DS version had a way too small subteranean hell and I think it oculd be alot better (although the game IS awsome). Nothing wrong with a movie if it is done right. I mean FF7 was not a disapointment in any way and stayed true to the game. If they can do the same for castlevania then it will be awsome.

Well, at least it's better than the movie being directed by Uwe Boll, right? ...Right? :(

Uwe Boll is pretty much the bottom of the barrel.
...Although McG is the scrapings just above the bottom of the barrel.

I can't wait to see The Rock as Simon Belmont. Or maybe he'll be Dracula. That could be cool. Is he going to be in the Halo movie too?

Hmmm... speaking of semi-androgynous male actors, who are also Castlevania franchise fanatics, and could bring the characters justice... oh yea there's me ^.^
I'm tryin my damnedest to get into this movie people... check out

look at my halloween pictures, the character was an indirect homage to Alucard from Symphony of the Night, and do me a favor
get a lot of people saying I'd do the job well,
I've done a lot of Broadway work and Commercials in my childhood, I went to The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles for college, and I am just starting to break back into the entertainment scene, somewhat regretful of my educational hiatus, since by now I know I'd have made something of myself....
If you think I could look the part at the very least send me an email at CorySaucier@gmail.com

What is with you people? Doom was slightly entertaining, but yes it did suck. I too, thought Van Helsing was a renamed Castlevania, and I just loved the movie. The only thing I would have changed was Dracula. But what you folks need to remember was that Dracula wasnt always a "monster" with the fangs out. He is the prince of darkness, so he must act like a prince. I still think Bram Stoker's Dracula has been the best "Dracula" character to date...Lets see how the casting pans out first before we are quick to jump. The good thing is, they are going back to belmonts rather than all these new weird characters from the recent tittles...
