Fox Licensing & Merchandising has struck a deal with
Microsoft so it can "act as the Licensing Agent for certain first-party video games published by Microsoft Game
Studios" for the Xbox 360, granting it a licensing program for titles beginning with Perfect Dark Zero
and Kameo: Elements of Power.
Fox has had a long history in this work thanks to its ties to The Simpsons (among other series heavily
licensed and made into merchandise), but this is the first time it's acted as an agent in the video-game market. It
will "seek partners in a broad variety of product categories including apparel, accessories, social expressions, toys,
and select print publishing."
So is it safe to assume then that there will be tons of hoodies, keychains, handshakes, hand puppets, and comics or
art books featuring our fairy and flair-y friends? Your guess is as good as ours, but you can bet that where there's
money to be made, the licensed tchotchkes will be there as well.
