Midway is bringing Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling to
current-gen consoles in 2007, the first major competitor in Western "sports entertainment" since WCW was subsumed
by the WWE.
Midway big boss man David Zucker says, "TNA Wrestling is one of the fastest growing and most exciting forms of sports
entertainment available today…. We… look forward to leveraging our expertise in the fighting game genre to create the
most compelling wrestling experience yet."
Contrary to what may be implied by the Next Generation headline, however, the Rock will not be a part of the TNA
action; instead, he will be featured in Midway's latest version of Spy Hunter, which is based on the movie
adaptation he'll star in.
