Well, the DS lunched fist in the US a little over a week earlier than Japan, but unforunately the US had a worse launch line-up and it was a few months before we got some of Japan's launch titles like Wario Ware Touched.

Few last tricks? I hope there's more.

Make way for the waves of $ony Jabronis and Billbox Butt Bandits! I smell what Joystiq is cookin'!

That would be nice if it launched in Europe first. We're always last, excluding Australia, when it comes to console launches.

Nintendo doesn't really have anything to worry about in selling their stuff in Japan. They have more to be concerned about with selling it in the US. MS on the other hand desperately needs to appeal to the Japanese gamer after the first Xbox bombed big time over there.

I doubt a European first launch, but hey everything they've done up to this point has been completely unexpected and different. Who knows? First console for sale on the Moon perhaps?

Jim gives a pretty good interview... considering he says nothing new nor revealing. I do think it is a good design that they can read from different size discs (rev and gc), I would like to know what kind of mechanism they designed to get solve that.

Overall though, this doesn't make me want to buy a Rev, but at least I am not left with a bad taste in my mouth like the PS3/X360 are leaving.

ps, can anyone point out the fannyboy in the above posts?

I thnk Nintendo could pull it off - why not? The DS launches were within 14 weeks of one another.

Moreso, i just wanted to say to Cyberclaws - haha, I've never heard those phrases before, good luck getting them to stick.

Why did this get posted again? This is a news article based on the source srticle from two posts down. Are you trying to compete with slashdot with all the double posts?

jc you are right. The interview is very well done, and it seems as if he knows far more than what is good for him to know and not us. Very cautiously done.

I see nothing wrong with launching the Revolution elsewhere first. Do I think it is going to happen? No. One thing that has remained true. Japan gets it first and everybody follows. That is how it will go with Revolution, save for the fact that everybody following will do so in a far shorter time frame than past consoles/handhelds. Just a thought.

I always thought that part of the hold-up for console launches for Europe and Australia was the electrical standard. Japanese companies naturally develop first for Japan, and just have to translate manuals and menus for North American launches. How long does it take to convert the system to PAL and SECAM?

Launching outside of Japan would be a bold move for Nintendo.

As well, i really like having the idea of a global launch window of say a week or so. makes for some great excitment in the industry

Should be interesting to see how things turn out

What I would like to know is if the Revolution will me like the GBA in that it can play games from any country? I will be studying abroud to Japan next year and I don't want to buy 2 Revolutions just so that I can play Japanese games in one and English games in the other.

i can easily see this happening.. it's not like they've never done it (DS) and it's not like it would hurt them at all. they already know they have Japan's wallets.

nome, what the hell are you talking about? this is the first time this story had been posted on joystiq. the only other revolution news on this page concerns responses to the VP of Epic's opinion of the controller.

yes, both these stories involve the same interview, but they have entirely different subjects. quit criticising and shut up.
