100% gameplay videos for Project Gotham Racing 3
We've obtained some official (and not-so-official) "100% pure gameplay footage" for Project Gotham Racing 3
for the Xbox 360. [A slower
mirror?]
The first we've uploaded to FileFront, clocking in at over 32MB with 2Mbps encoding. The trailer features a 2-minute
"guided tour" of the tracks from New York, Tokyo, London, Las Vegas, and Nürburgring. Sporting a replay look, "Every
camera angle you see in game [is] used from the GothamTV cameras that are all user selectable from the GothamTV mode of
PGR 3."
If you need even longer gameplay footage (and don't mind off-screen videos), check out the
4 videos listed at Xboxyde recently. There's no optimized Dolby
5.1 surround sound there (or any sound at all, for that matter—except for the big 147MB download… in Italian), but you
will get more samples of gameplay. Note: you may require an XviD codec
to play the latter 4 videos on your machine. (Some older videos that we linked to can be found
here.)
[Thanks, Shon]

hrm
PGR2 ran at 30fps.
This doesn't seem like its 30fps.
Nor does it seem like 60fps (ala PGR1).

Pure brilliance !! PGR3 is the reason why I am buying an Xbox360 for. My console allegiance officially goes where Bizarre go next gen.

Sweeeet. :)

the graphics and lighting are really impressive, but alas, i'm not too into racing games. looks like i'd get bored after a few minutes of racing.

another (faster, free-er) mirror at gamerandy.com
Rjcc @ Dec 18th 2005 9:37PM
Phez, how can you tell what the frame rate is, watching a re-encoded video thats running at a different frame rate than the source most likely?
The Shizzlenit @ Dec 18th 2005 9:37PM
the game is in 30fps but the motion blur makes it look more fluid, just like in movies, where a 24fps movie looks fluid because of the motion blur
basically, in the next gen, a game doesn't have to be 60fps to look as fluid as a 60fps game due to motion blur
btw this game is beautiful, can't wait for it, it is also a good way to deter PS3 fanboys from saying that the 360 isn't powerful enough
if you want more info, go to kikizo.com (already reported on here), the 22-min interview there is great, got me really anticipating this game

This is so unimpressive, these same gfx could be done on XBOX really. This is the reason why I won't get an XBOX 360. I will stick with Revolution thank you.
Einhanderkiller @ Dec 18th 2005 9:37PM
The car models are really nice.
The interiors are... BLEH.
And the landscape and stuff could've been better for next-gen, but this is a launch title, after all. OR IS IT? Hmmm....

re: fps
yes, i may be entirely wrong about the video; do streaming videos even have a FPS count akin to an avi file?
tpp @ Dec 18th 2005 9:37PM
Manic, I don't know what you saw, but there's absolutely no way you saw the same video I saw. The "official" trailer has better graphics than any video game I've seen in any current gen platform.
John @ Dec 18th 2005 9:37PM
Tpp, I'm guessing Manic didn't even download the video.

Are you so immature that the only way you feel you can get the attention your parents don't give you is to post flame-bait BS? Congratulations. You got me!
DJCarbon43 @ Dec 18th 2005 9:37PM
to answer some of the fps questions: I suspect that the framerate was reduced significantly for uploading purposes. The file would be much too big otherwise. re: the 24fps motion blur, lol right on. They clearly didnt want to tamper with the resolution, so reducing the framerates is the next most effective way of reducing filesize.

How is this Video of gameplay, I can't remember the last time I played a racing game from the prespective of the corner, or changing my camera to movie mode to race. This is all fancy edited cut scene replay footage, what does it look like when you are playing, I still don't know even after watching this so called "100% Gameplay Video". And I have to say that the graphics are not that impressive, probably due more to the fact the the resoultion is under half of the HD resolution of the game.
I geuss it is a replay of someone who has just played
Gamas @ Dec 18th 2005 9:37PM
I'm sorry guys but this is extremely unimpressive.

If you want to be impressed, download the full res 720p trailer and watch it on your 55"-70" 3LCD or Plasma HDTV.
Your welcome.
