I'd like to thank the Academy…
The Academy of Machinima Arts & Sciences is bringing us the latest Machinima film festival this weekend at the
Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens. Expect to see
regulars like Roosterteeth's Red vs Blue as well as "Mackie" best
picture finalists like Bot and
The Journey.
Wired News has a piece about the medium and festival saying that "in the early 1990s, the machinima movement has for
the most part spawned self-indulgent, sophomoric movies," however, "of late, machinima has begun to explore more
sophisticated, nuanced storytelling." They also discuss the impending copyright issues that are sure to plague
them as machinima increases in popularity. Try to get over there if you can to see what people have been doing
with your games.
