Nintendo Wi-Fi to kick off at a McD's in Chicago
It's been known for a while that Nintendo's trying to do this
Wi-Fi thing right, and that they've got a pact with McDonald's (er, Wayport) to get
some free wireless play for the arrival of Mario Kart DS, but no one's heard anything about any specific
plans for a launch party.
That is, until now. Mario himself will be making an appearance with his costumed counterpart Ronald at
a McDonald's in downtown Chicago this Monday the 14th at 11 AM. The event
will feature the extremely recognizable duo "'flipping the switch' to turn on the service" as it were.
No word yet on kiosks to sell Kart-ridges to the DS-owning public that will inevitably show up on a school
day. So no desert launch party then?
[Thanks, Blake]

As much as I love Nintendo and hate to see them fail, I got 20 bucks that says something goes wrong.
Anyone else in Chicago want to meet up there? Soonest I could be there is 4:30, that's after stopping at compusa (shudder) to pick up the game.

Nintendo need to push more adveristment as I know they would be more like show on Nintendo Power magazine and some news. McDonald would need to push more to show both companies what they can do with DS and WiFi

What is with Mario and the Nazi salute? This picture could pass for a wave, but has anyone seen him in Paper Mario 2? It's zig heil every other gesture.

I agree. They've fallen right down to earth where the the normal folks live day to day. Kudos to Nintendo for being real in a sea of hyped up zero hour burning man BS. Free Wi-Fi is great and anyone who says otherwise is just pissed because thyey have to pay for it (MS) or else they don't have it (Sony).

I played the XBOX 360 yesterday. I told the customers and the workers there, when it would be released, hit everybody who is getting one in the head 11 times.

Kevin D,
How old are you that you are worried about a machine being called "kiddie"? Are you worried that if you play nintendo someone might think you are a kiddie?
Do you think if someone sees you playing your ps2 they will think you are a big tough man?
Or if you play xbox you somehow get more chicks?
Hmmmmm. Doubt it.
The only people worried about a "kiddie" image are kiddies because grown ups don't care what people think the way kids do.

i don't know what the fuss is about. personally, i'm freakin' overjoyed that i'm going to be able to hang out with mario and ronald mcndonald and throw a couple of red shells at some 11-yr olds while getting mcflurry all up in my touchscreen.
plus, the rock and roll mcdonalds is the flagship store. its a beast.
all y'all take yourselves too seriously.
