Sony, amid controversy, has announced that they will temporarily cease the manufacturing
of music CD's with embedded antipiracy technology. The copy-protection DRM rootkits have been used by virus makers due
to its proficiency at not being detected by virus-detection programs. It has most recently been pointed out as useful
for cheating in World of Warcraft.
While Sony is not apologetic for its software, many antivirus companies have updated their software to help users
disable the rootkits. What do you predict will be Sony's next move - will they forego the use of the rootkits
altogether or will they simply alter the code to make it more difficult for detection and hacking?
