the only games i've been wanting to play that werent on the list are newer games that have come out since i traded my xbox in towards the 360, those games are xmen legends and star wars battlefront 2. It does at the top that they are working hard to keep adding more games to the list, so i'm confident that since these are pretty popular titles they'll make it eventually.

As for asking why we didn't say both, it's pretty obvious that the list is longer than just the top-ten titles or something. Unfortunately, it took me but a few seconds to find a game from my personal library that wouldn't play in the new system, at least not yet. That matters to me (and more than a few other Xbox owners, I imagine).

At any rate, thanks for the support, Nintendo Gal. It is appreciated.

Madden probably wasn't on the top of their list b/c if there are any madden fans out there, they're probably buying the new madden, not playing old ones on their new xbox.

Truthfully the backwards compatibhility doesn't seem good anyway, since you can't transfer saves.

They better start working on a certain notable "top selling" title series to get it compatible with the 360. *cough* Madden *cough* Even though, I think most of the Madden customers are the ones that buy it annually so I could understand why Microsoft isn't in a rush.

No Dead or Alive Ultimate or Volleyball, and yet Catwoman is on there. Someone at MS needs to get their priorities straight.

People do realize that the list will get longer as emulation profiles are still being developed? You will probably be able to download them over Xbox Live once they are ready. People shouldn't freak out so much.

Why are Egg Mania , and Catwoman there but no Burnout, Battlefront II, or Splinter Cell? I mean SC is a no-brainer.

I guess the less popular games are a result of their being compatible with a more popular games' emulation profile. The problem I see is the whole profile update setup. Couldn't the burnable updates be hacked easily to put mods on system? Maybe the 360 would be so hack-proof...

Wow, let me continue with what I've found that's missing from my own collection: Breakdown, Guilty Gear XX #Reload, both MechAssaults, OutRun 2, both Project Gotham Racing games, Rallisport Challenge 2, Shenmue II, Soul Calibur II, and Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (to name a few). More profiles, please!

Don't worry Xbox fans you can still play Barbie Horse Adventure on your Xbox360 haha. The list is longer than expected, but you'd think that certain games would get added first before other lack luster games like Catwomen.

Keep you Xbox and QUIT CRYING.

The list is 13X long than I thought it would be.

Or just trade in your old Xbox stuff and stop dwelling on the past. It's evolution baby...

Do the unlisted games have confirmed rereleases or sequals on the 360? This kind of touches on what Yellow Texan was saying. They might not decide to support games when they could try to get you to buy an XBOX360 compatible version or sequal.

I know they are still working on the list. There are 200 more according to kayto.com that they are getting finial certification on as we speak. Here are a few noteables that I need to have work, All Splinter Cell games, Ghost Recon Island THunder, ESPN 2k5, NFL FEVER 2004 (sorry i still like that game) PANZER DRAGOON, Shenmue II, Soul Calibur II, the Oddwold Games and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Im happy with the list as is for now and didnt exspect so many to be on there from day one, but I would like these games too.

Did you guys even read the Q&A?

"Xbox.com: What criteria do you use in choosing which Xbox games will be backward compatible on Xbox 360? How far back into the Xbox game library are you going to go?

Todd: When we say Xbox library, we mean the entire Xbox library. This ranges all the way from our launch in 2001 up to games that haven't even shipped yet. As we've said before, we prioritized the top-selling titles and those games with a large Xbox Live following for launch, and we're going deeper into the portfolio every day."

So if it's not there, just wait a month, and there's a good chance it will be.

That being said, I'm missing:

JSRF
Gladius
Burnout 3
Burnout Revenge
Soul Caliber

More than half my collection will be playable. WAY more than I expected is playable. I'm happy.

it not a case of crap games being added before other if MS get a certain engine working then its probably sweeps quite a few games in.

Once they get the unreal engine running through emulation that will take care of a fair few

its a start and good to see half life 2 on there

No Elder Scrolls?!? Not that I really would want to start a new character on the 360, but it would have been nice to have the option.

I wonder if the other games will run in 720p like Halo 1 and 2.

But I'm still missing Panzer Dragoon, Jet Grind, and all the Oddworlds

Yeah, I'm a little mad that they don't have Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind on it. That was one of the few console cames out there that actually has replay value. I don't have an XBox though so their loss is the PC gamers gain.

I'd like to see Outrun 2 on that list. I'd like it to upscale to 720p and be widescreen. Oh, and I'd like some milk and cookies.

Unfortunately, I don't see ONE of the games I've played on my Xbox over the last 6 months on this list: Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, Ghost Recon Summit Strike (although all of the others are listed, maybe it will run), Battlefield 2, Burnout, Links.

So the xbox stays connected it seems... Which seems like it's the case anyway: I'm getting messages from all of my 360 preorders saying supplies are limited and no one can confirm I'll be getting one at launch.

Patience... must...

...be...

...exercised! ARRRGH!!!

They better be making those f'n 360s 24 hours a day!

Well I bet Splinter Cell are a bit harder to get emulation running on then others, as the use some crazy textures and such. I will be missing those. Also the other than that I found three big ones for me.

Deus EX IW
Jet set Radio Future (one of the best games ever)
XIII I just love the look and story of this game

Just imagine how Half life 2 will look in 720p or SP:PT and CT when they get them working. man this will be great! This list is also larger than I thought it would be.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but where is STEEL BATTALION?? While I know the proprietary controller and so forth causes difficulty, (though I think surmountable) I do plan on owning a 360 someday, and my preference would be to NOT keep around the old one just to play one game. And of course, where is DOAXBV?
