Gamestop to call Xbox 360 pre-orderers today

I got my call from EBgames on Friday. Yep, I got pushed back to second shipment. But I am thinking about hitting up the best buy on the 22nd and using the $100 i have down at eb for store credit to buy games. hmmm.

I got called Thurdsday Nov 10 at 6PM , Im on first shipment!! i love you gamestop!

I will NEVER buy from Gamestop again. I have had many horrible experiences with the employees there. Here is my last one. I was in there last weekend looking at used PS2s. First the guy try to force me into buying it, just like a used car salesman. He hands it to me out of the cabinet, I look at it for a minute and then hand it back saying I'll wait. "Let me ring that up for you then".

Anyway, after that I was looking around. A kid came in to put some more money down on his 360 order. They final say "You know you're not on the first shipment right?". He's surprised of course. "Ya, the cutoff date was May 21 and you orders September 7". Well that's funny, because I was in there at the end of September thinking of preordering and asking the specifically if I would get it on the 22nd and they assured me I would. Glad I didn't fall for that crap.

Anyone know if they've released any presell numbers for the 360? It'd be interesting to know.

I got a call on Thursday the 10th to let me know that I could pick up Kameo on the 11th (even though I was driving to the mall at that very moment to get my copy.)

The automated call went on to say that if I had ordered my 360 after May I wasn't guaranteed to get one on launch day. It didn't say one way or the other what shipment I was on or when I could get it at all.

I preordered online with Gamestop at the end of September and called to confirm I was getting mine next Tuesday. They said yes it was shipping then, but two games have changed from my bundle. Seems like Dead or Alive 2 and Elder Scrolls have been replaced by Gun and Condemned in the Silver Bundle. Would have been nice to have this told to me without having to call. Maybe they were waiting for MS to announce the launch list before mailing.

Does it not make sense to anyone else that if you bought an Xbox 360 in August from Gamestop.com you'll get one, but if you pre-ordered in store in August you won't?

This is the last time I'm buying anything from Gamestop. I went in to update my phone number, and the store manager asked me if I had pre-ordered a system at any other store, and I said no. He then said Microsoft has a new policy that there can only be one Xbox 360 per household, and they were going to call all the local electronics store to see if customers had done multiple pre-orders, then they would cancel their pre-orders if they had.

First, he lied. Microsoft has no such policy (wtf), and they are lying to protect themselves from people not picking up their systems. Second, he said it in a manner that insinuated that I was lying and threatened that I would lose my pre-order if I was...

Gamestop can go f*** themselves.

I used to be a manager for a Gamestop about 2 years ago or so. I didn't leave the company on what I would call "good" terms, heh oops. Gamestop is a bad company, thats for sure...however the bigger problem is the way they reward their employees.

When I worked there I was required to get at least 20 customers to reserve games, consoles, pc games you name it a week. I was the good employee and got 50 a week ;). Anyways this brings me to my point.

I reserved my 360 9-22-05. I had heard EB was no longer taking resos (thats GS employee terms for reservations :P) So I decided to go to my old GS and get one. Honestly, I hadn't paid much attention to the 360's launch numbers and didnt think I would be ona 2nd shipment. Mostly because the DAMN employee there never TOLD me there was one. This was no accident, if he gets the reso, he gets the doggie treat. If I call and complain I was never warned, they just sluff it off.

Unfourtanetly, for this fella--he didn't know I used to work there and how to work the system. I'll get one on the 22nd. You watch. ;P

so i guess no one got the call today. bet it wont be till late in the week

i put 50 down on when EB started taking preorders so i am one of a dozen to for usre get one. But it is a 24 hr hold vs the 48 hr one the normally have. He told he they had a dozen to two dozen coming and have over 100 preorders
so early folks selling these for major $$ on ebay

I just out 5 down on the games i want and the charger, etc

I did not know (and did not even look it up ) that the wireless that comes with the 399 deal DOES NOT HAVE A CHARGER, lol.......jesus
headset and hard drive and the wireless but no damn way to charge it without putting out more $$

:( i just called and found out the gamestop i preordered at only got 8 xbox 360's, and since i preordered in early october i won't get one :(

#12 it doesn't come with rechargeable batteries so it would make sense that it doesn't come with a charger. The play and charge kit is a rechargeable battery pack and the play and charge cable.

Or if you already own rechargeables you can just use those and charge them with your existing charger.

I can tell you that I didn't get a call... and I live in NJ. In fact, I called there last week trying to see where I was on the list and how many they'd be getting and the guy gave me a hard time. He wouldn't check where I was because they were "busy" and then he talked to me for like 5 minutes trying to convince me to keep my preorder with them when I said I was thinking of getting my money back... too busy, but you have 5 minutes to talk to me on the phone? Okay. He also said he "didn't know" how many they were getting. They told me right away that I'd be on the 2nd shipment when I preordered the 1st week of September, so who knows what shipment I'll be on at this point. Needless to say, I'm looking into some things, and if nothing else I'll either go the Walmart or Best Buy route.

My local Software ETC (owned by GameStop now) says they're due to make their final list on Wednesday and start calling people.

They keep trying to tell me that even though their first shipment number is relatively low, they expect to get over a hundred in the second shipment, and that both of those shipments could arrive on the same day. Huh?

I also got the call about the Kameo pre-order (which I'm unsure now that I even want), and when I asked about it the next day in the store, they said they didn't have the game for sale yet. Huh again.

Tonight, I'm going to Sport Chalet to buy a caming chair, so I can wait infront of Best Buy on the night of the 21st.

I preorded way the hell back on May 22nd. So I was gonna be pissed if I didn't recieve one of these things. I checked the messages today and got one from Gamestop. It sounded like the old lady was ready to seduce me. Seriously, it was like the whore off the herpes episode of South Park was calling to inform me of my XBox.
Does the whole company seem to be in the toilet right now? The website isn't always up to date (items set to launch at a date 10 days past) and the whole automated phone system sucks. The old hag repeats herself and stutter! Then ya get put on hold for fricken eternity with some whiney little wench coming on every 15 seconds to tell you to please keep holding!
What happened here? I never really liked Gamestop to begin with, but at the very least, their site and phone system always was well done. Anyway, got the call from the old hooker. I'm curious to know how earliy people are gonna show up if all these things are going to preorderers...

Well I guess pre-ordering was pointless for most of us... I live in NJ and of course was foolish and pre'd at Gamestop... Looks like i'm off to wait in line early in the morning next tuesday as this pointless little store is only getting 14 systems in... Of course the employees of the store made it known that they're all getting theirs...

Got the phone call from Gamestop, I'm getting mine on 11/22.

I preordered mine from GameStop on June 4th and I haven't gotten a call yet. I hope I get it at launch.

I got the call from Gamestop stating that they're selling the system at midnite on the 21st. They also said the line will form early. I pre-ordered the day before the MTV show, then won one at E3 through mountain dew. I still havent heard from Mountain dew, so I guess I'll be on line monday night on Broadway and 8th.

Just went up to gamestop to add the perfect dark zero to my bundle and found out that i wasn't on first shipment. the guy said if I hadn't already recieved a call I was stuck out of luck. What doesn't make sense to me is that they only called the people who were on the first shipment, so all the people who are on the second and don't know they are will show up at launch midnight and not get a system. I would if I show up early will they even be checking the first shipment list or will they just be giving out on first come first serve.

Ok, first of all, I learned my lesson when I sweated out my PS2 preorder. You guys don't have to wait for them to announce that they are taking preorders... Seriously, if I wanted a PS3 and I thought they were really going to come out here this Spring (which I don't) I would plunk down some cash NOW!! I reserved my 360 last May. I asked where I was on the list and if it wasn't in the top 10 I was going to go elsewhere. I was first, and will get mine. I actually feel bad for the employees at my EB they are nice dudes, and none of them are allowed to get one from the store(which may be why they aren't opening at midnight so they can go wait up eslewhere). My EB is getting 10 systems and they had over 70 preorders. I knew when I saw "official" announcements of 30 preorders this fall it would get ugly. BTW... I waited for 6 and a half hours at Wal Mart when PS2 came out and got one, if that helps anyone. I live in the Oklahoma City area...

I called my Gamestop figuring I'm on the second shipment and I was correct. I'm 29th in line and won't see the system from Gamestop on launch day. Oh well...guess its Wal-Mart and Best Buy at Midnight for me. He tried to push me to go in there and pay in full though because they'll "make sure" that people who pay in full get theirs more than those who don't. Stupidity.

man you guys get mad at gamestop for no reason. first of all i am a manager for one and quit getting pissed becaused you waited until the last minute to reserve one and are on the 2nd shipment. also on a side note we are going to call all of the 2nd shipment people one by one and tell them when they can come get their system. it would be foolish to cancel your reserve to try and find it elsewhere. if you do find it somewhere else the i am happy for you and then come back and cash in your reserve. i am only saying this to be nice, i already got credit for my sales/reserves i could care less if you buy it somewhere else. just quit bashing on gamestop employees. some of them are a-holes, but at my store we pride ourselves on great customer service and being respectful. also i am on the first shipment! =) (sucks for eb employees who cant buy one)

I got the call telling me the system will go on sale the 22nd (midnight). Also was informed the line will start early. I pre-ordered on May 12th, I think that was one or 2 days before they were officially to start taking them.

I'll be damned if I wait in line for a system again like I did with PS2. I waited in a Super K-Mart for that system. Although they did have a nice setup. They had the foodcourt all nicely set up into table with 30 chairs. I got off class that day and bolted there. I got chair 30 :) Was even offered $150 for it. Waited nine hours but got free pizza and drinks. Also got to watch a DVD. And I was on the news. YAY!

I still haven't recieved a call, checked my reciept I pre-ordered on june 6th to late I guess WOW who woulda thought so long ago! but maybe im not out of luck but I never got my call :-(

Bought mine at a Gamestop in Pasadena,CA on May 30th. The manager asked me if I'd gotten a call yet when I asked if I was going to make it for 1st shipment. I told him no, but then I paid for the remainder that I owed right then and there. He called me later that night and told me I was on the list for 1st shipment.

So I don't know if paying in full was what made the difference, but I'd like to think so. That's why I went in there in the first place. I want to make sure that on 1st shipment that if it comes down to spare pickings, that maybe those that pre-ordered early and have paid in full will get first dibs. But I still plan on getting there early, thank God they won't be open on Tuesday night, so I'll get a good nights sleep and show up bright and early before they open. I'll probably take a half day off as my boss is savy enough to know what the hell is going on if I don't show up to work at all.

I ordered the "Silver Bundle" from gamestop.com back in Sepetember. Today I got an e-mail from gamestop.com saying that preorders made after October 11 would not make the first shipment. It also said that they're shipping out their orders on 11/21, which means that if you ordered overnight shipping, you'll be getting yours on the 22nd. Good news for me if it holds.

I am NUMBER ONE on the list at my local Gamestop,I nearly shit myself when they told me that (because I was nervous if I was going to get one at all because they are only getting EIGHT in on launch day).

They called today and told me I can get it at 12:00 midnight and if I didnt pay it off yet to bring the money for it when I pick it up.

F Gamestop. they do this everytime take way to many preorders and cant fulfill them for weeks and people go elsewhere. not to mention theyll take a game you bought from them for $50 an hour earlier back and give you $20 for it and turn around and sell it for $45. I'm really all done with gamestop. Bestbuy, target, walmart for me. with them speculating the 360 could be half the price of ps3 by ps3's launch im just gonna wait it out let the savages go nuts on the 22nd

There was going to be a terrible PSP shortage, too -- received fewer than ordered, lines around the block, etc. GameStop and EB babbling about "reserve and pay now for the second shipment or you won't get one until July." The nearest SuperTarget had twenty or more PSPs from the initial shipment for almost two weeks before they sold out. Local Wal-Marts had many available for about the same time.

I got so fed up with it, I just didn't buy one.

I just spoke with a local Gamestop regarding my 360 Premium preorder that I placed in September. It was a new store and not many people knew about it, so when I placed the order I was told i was on the second shipment. When I stopped by the store a few days later, I found out that some people had cancelled pre-orders and now I was on the first shipment. So, I just called the store to check the status, and the manager told me that they were prioritizing orders by the number of items/accessories pre-ordered with the system. ???

So I asked him if that meant that someone who placed their pre-order after me might get a system instead of me simply because they ordered more games/etc. He replied that that would happen only if the person pre-ordered on the same day. Although, later in the conversation he seemed to indicate that they would be reviewing the orders (and their accessories) placed over "multiple day" time periods.

Anyone else get this story? He said they would be notifying people tomorrow, (11/16/2005) if they would be getting a system on 11/22.

(sigh)

Just got off the phone with the local GameStop (Bismarck, ND). They're getting 14 systems in for launch, and I'm number 31 on the list, so I should make second shipment. They didn't have any info as to when that would be; with the Thanksgiving holiday, they might have it in on Friday, else sometime the week after.

I'm still going to go down to the store for the midnight madness. I'll be able to pick up my games and accessories, then take them home and drool all over the packaging until I get the Phone Call.

I run a Game Crazy store and we called our customers over a week ago. If you're sick of things at those other game stores, shop GAME CRAZY.

I reserved my 360 i think the first 1 week they took reserves...and still havent got a phone call!!! my gamespot told me 1 week ago that they had plenty for everyone who reserved the first month

It's been weird talking to GameStop.

First of all I have a friend who is 3 people ahead of me on the list and when he talked to GameStop they told him it may be a week or two after the launch before he gets his. So I called the same day, explained that my friend came in and what he told me, they informed me that is a possibility. The guy told me that "Usually what happens is they call the customer and hold the systems for 48 hrs and if that customer does not come in under that given time then we use that system for the next person on the list." They told me that it's likely that I will get mine over Thanksgiving Break, but I will be in Ohio, they said under those special situations they would hold it for longer.

I got the call from GameStop's automated system today telling me "It's likely I wont see my system until AFTER Christmas". So I dont know what to think. I will definately keep my preorder with them, I placed it in August and it's almost all paid off, which I will finish tomorrow.

For those of you lookin for a measuring stick as to when you might see your xbox 360...here is my story. After hearing of the shortages goin around. I called my local gamespot to check on where I was on the list. I pre-ordered and paid off my xbox 360 on September 17th. Fully paying it off the same frickin' day didnt mean a damn thing either. anyway...they told me that due to the "World wide Lauch" microsoft wasnt allocating the full suply to The US anymore so they are getting well below what they were supposed to get. I was told I would get a call telling me when I can come in and get my system. This happend a couple days ago. Fast forward to today. I got that all important phone call..I was told that I was like on the 4th shipment(i guess) and that I wouldnt see my 360 till JANUARY 26TH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. its a shame that Microsoft would do this to the US when they are an american company who are based here. Sony will never do a world wide launch because they know they want the japanese to get theirs first since they are a japanese company. This kiss the far east's ass approch is horrible. now you have pissed off americans who are left in the cold.
because of this i picked up WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2006 for ps2..that game looks better than half the 360 games comin out anyway.

Does anybody know exactly how they determine the number of units each Gamestop gets? I've been as nice as possible trying to get info out of they guys at my local GS so I can guesstimate when I'll get mine, but it's like getting blood out of a rock; a lot of "we can't be sure," and "don't really know what to tell you, man." And that chick on the phone!! I'm getting tired of hearing from here every night about a new piece of equipment that does me no good w/o the system!!

Yes my phone rang with a recorded message to tell me that it was highly unlikely that I would receive my Xbox360 preorder until early 2006. I even PAID IN FULL for this system they told me that it would be here on the release date of nov 22nd and for sure before the xmas. Well guess what now they are saying that it was Microsoft fault and I would not get one tell after xmas and if I wanted to I could get in store credit or HALF of my money back. (YES I SAID HALF OF MY MONEY BACK) So to say I was a little upset (understatement) but the person that told me this was no longer working there. This is even better we stop in to BESTBUY and talked with the people in there that I know. The people at game stop was bragging to them that they ordered 6 or more and were going to sell them on eBay and this is the employees that work there that were able to do this so when you get your call think about them people that put 50.00 bucks down and got 6 of them and sold them on eBay. But back to the Half of my money back this come from the asst. Manager at the store I paid in full for the Xbox 360, plug and charge, king Kong and I can only have half of my money back or in store credit. So all of you out there that shop Game Stop please keep this in mind next time you go in there to get a game or a system and how they lie to make a sale. Oh and I was told that I could go out and wait in line and try to get one. I then ask so what shipment...he said the second shipment but get this. the store is shipping out like 20 of the 360s to people that ordered online before october 26! thats ridiculous that someonje who orders online gets it before someone who actually went to the store. Gamestop is convenient location for where I live so i shop there for games, but if I don't get the 360 by Dec 15, I am going to local toys r us and buying it and asking for a full refund of my money. I mean I preordered in late AUGUST and i'm still not getting it at 1st shipment. what amazes me, and I agree with you all is that they are MONEYHOUNDS! You guys think you have it bad... I pre-ordered my 360 from Gamestop on June 27th and was number 14 on the list. On the 22nd, they had 8!! I was so pissed and still am. The pricks at Gamestop said it'll be after the first of the year before they get more. I'm going postal on their asses!

it would be to get one at launch, apparently that true. i know they want our money, so the
shortage is hurting them too. besides this gives me more time to insure i have the money
when i am told to pick up my system. We cannot
let our desire consume us, microsoft realizes
the ripple effect this can cause, cancellations,
buying other systems, and biggest of all, running right into the launch of their competitor, Sony PS3, They have moe at stack,
than just our need to have one. so wait it out,
and think, we can, but it means profit loss for
Microsoft. do not get caught in the hype!!
