Join the fight to save King's Quest IX
Vivendi Universal Games has seemingly put an end to the
fan-created King's Quest sequel, KQIX: Every Cloak Has A Silver
Lining. The game has been in development since 2002 and was intended to be a free, for-fans-by-fans project.
Unfortunately, the powers that be have issued a cease and desist order, putting KQIX on indefinite pause. In
response, the Save King's Quest IX campaign has been launched—and it needs your
help!
[Thanks, Matt]

I was realy looking forward o this title. Its to bad it got shut down. I think it was shut down because of all the attention it was getting. Sending letter to the copywrite holders will only confirm the amount of interest in this franchise. Adventure games seem to be making a comback (siberia, still life), and hopefully we can put on grahams adventure cap one more time.

SPACE QUEST! SPACE QUEST! SPACE QUEST! Thats what we really need...

Man, I loved playing Space quest, Kings quest, and police Quest when I was a kid. Those were some of the first PC games I played (besides wolfenstein). I'd love to get back into the Quest series again. I sent my email already.

They got shut down for calling it King's Quest and portraying it as a sequel. You don't see VU shutting down Peasant's Quest (http://www.homestarrunner.com/disk4of12.html) do you?

I don't see why they can't just change the name and remove any King's Quest-related content and release it like that. It's not like they're using code from previous games.

Rob X, I don't see them shutting down the people making the remakes of King's Quest I&II and Quest for Glory II either...

Hello! Thanks for the shout-out:) I'm Katie, the Asst. Director of Game Design for KQIX, and we really appreciate all the support we've gotten since recieving the C&D letter.
We are exploring our options at this point, and a number of things have come up, been considered and are being reviewed by the team even now. Hopefully that'll lead to good news at some point.
Again, thanks so much!

Hey, I know how to fix this! It's a little plan called "DON'T CALL IT FREAKIN' KING'S QUEST"
All you have to do is change to copyrighted stuff to not copyrighted stuff and there you have it.
I hate seeing big corporations step on the little guy but when the little guy doesn't take step to protect himself like avoiding trademarks then they lose my sympathy.

It really sucks that a company would do this... let the community create interest in a title that has been dead for years and then as soon as they see it might become viable again... they put a stamp on those old C&D letters.
