While "Game Day" will probably never be
synonymous with a bunch of guys sitting around watching televised Halo and Super Smash Bros.
tournaments, the Major Gaming League (MLG) is looking to make more of an impact on
TV. MLG has hired former head of CBS Sports Neal Pilson to find interested parties for televising League events during
the 2006-2007 season (the final 3 tournaments of the 2005 season, including the Halo 50k in Atlanta next week, are not
part of the sought deal).
Televising game tournaments is not a new idea - in South Korea, Starcraft is still popular enough for network
exposure - some awe-inspiring Starcraft veterans have
even successfully released DVD compilations of their greatest matches. Would you watch a gaming tournament on TV?
