Not only will Nintendo's next-generation console be the smallest of the big three (3 DVD cases in
size!), it'll also be the least expensive, according to Executive VP of Sales and Marketing for Nintendo America,
Reggie Fils-Aime, who said last week:
Value has been a key card for us this generation and we'll continue to play it… Do I expect us to be at a lower price point than our competition? Yes I do. Have we determined a price yet? No we haven't.
This makes sense, given the company's repeated reminders that the next-generation of games isn't about graphical processing power (confirmed by Iwata on video here). If the company's putting less bump into a smaller trunk, the price should be lower. That's cool by us: as in movies, mere graphical detail has little to do with the quality of the experience.
Just don't expect to snag a Revolution for $99 bucks. The smart money's on a retail price between $199 and $249.
