There is NO HALO to sell that new console!
It's going to be much tougher this time around.

HALO carried Xbox to where it is today...

Without HALO or something as big as HALO, the 360 is just an upgraded Xbox that claims to usher the HD Era without a HD drive.

Pay ahead...

After reading all these entries, I think that this "XD" guy is talking alot of crap aswell.

Joystiq should ban him.

To answer the "Truth": I myself have looked into the surveys aswell and I can say that Mikhail is quite right with the stats, and I think that the PS3 does sound more promising as it's going to be cheap and not expensive as people might say, it sounds like there is gonna be a hdd afterall, and the controller will obviously change as it was a "conceptual" design because thats what "concepts" are for. Isn't that the point? I actually like the approach that Sony has brought to the table, atleast they are giving you the freedom for opinion and they will build on this. Whilst the Xbox 360 is already underperforming. That is a fact. Developer support isn't as good as you think. It's always easy to assume it's good starting from the bottom. Sony is starting at the top from the success of the PS2.

My vote goes to the PS3.

I really don't know what's more pathetic, this launch lineup or the rampant fanboyism being poured into attacking and defending it.

Yes, every console to date has had a weak lineup. Which is precisely why I don't see the point in lining up to buy one of the things.

Maybe when the console reaches a sub-ludicrous price and there are actually some games worth playing, then I'll consider buying one. Until then, I'll be one less person for you fanboys to have to contend with in the race to be one of the first to suckle at Bill Gates' crusty, wrinkly teat.

Hey Syco, Why are you getting bent out of shape over people discussing their opinions. We might get excited sometimes about are views, but this happens every time a new system launches. This is what Joystiq is for. Some people choose different approaches when debating. People maybe aggressive and others maybe passive. I am aggressive. I say what is on my mind.

Mikhail Schukapper (why is it so busy in here?)
I repect that others should be allowed to have an opinion. But read this ok? READ THIS!
If you have an opinion that can only be defended by brand loyalty and not on any substance, then your opionion is not relivant. I can say Gizmondo is better than Revo and X360 put together with a reason like Nintendo blows goats and MS make Windows so they suck. Does that make scence to you? I'm a logical person so I like to understand why people have their opions, but the facts are, people's backup to their views are either not factual or they lack it all together. Watch, I'll do it again; PS3 sucks because it's not backwards compatable with VHS! 1 last time just to make things clear; PS3 rules because Soul Calibur 5 will be an exclusive title on it! Do you get it yet?

James Marsters,
I'm talking crap? I'm not saying anything that isn't true! You should be here to discuss and share your opinion, but when you flame for no reason (regardless of what is being flammed) it makes all the fanboys come out and ruin the tread. All I'm saying is if you're going to flame, explain your reasons for doing so. If your reasons are weak, people challenge you. If you can't handle that then why bother coming here?

does anyone know what the collector's edition of PDZ has that the regular one doesnt? I heard someone say the original PDZ might be on a bonus disc in the collectors edition, and I've also heard there are bonus characters and maybe an extra multiplayer level. I pre-ordered the regular version because I'm assuming its just gonna be one of those stupid "making of" DVD's with it in a fancier case. But if the bonus levels and stuff are there I want to get it.

You know what, ban me! You'll save me the time of correcting people who present opionions as facts and give no backing for it.

Paul Atreides,
No Halo will hurt the launch, but if you realy want Halo 3, you'll get the system after launch right? I'm more pissed that DOA4 is delayed and its not even delayed that much and that's because I like fightinig games better than fps games. Anyone that doesn't have one of their fav types of games available is going to be less interested. The REAL hurt in the launch is the lack of supply to meet the demand; AGAIN, this is common to launches so its nothing new.

Truth,
Bottom line, people don't read before they post or they like to let the topics go to hell just so they can rant without facts. When someone challenges them or proves their post to be worthless, they can't take it.

Are most stores sold out of the games that were released early? There were none left at Target when I dropped by on my quest to find the best place to get the xbox 360, and I didn't see any games in stock anywhere except one place. They had 6 copies of Kameo... which was the only game they had. It seemed like a good sign that maybe this particular store might be a sleeper pick for where to get the console on launch day. The store will remain nameless, but I'm sure many of you could figure it out.

It's scary how much hype Sony gets from doing nothing by only producing boastful numbers and nothing physical.

I can't wait to see how much more powerful the PS3 is to the Xbox360 considering that the Xbox is "two" times more powerful to the PS2 and the graphics difference isn't really by much. Expect the PS3 to be the Xbox1's place in the next generation. More power.... But not anything worthy of their crazy hype and lies.

Sony is losing developer support. Nothing for Sony really to worry about since everyone and their mothers makes games for them. But developers having little support from Sony, difficult programming tools, and a lack of a centralizied online network isn't helping Sony gain or keep support of their developers. With expensive programming tools and not a very friendly system to program for.... This only drags out the development for a game or the need for more employees. Meaning in the long run more money to produce a game.

I believe that the only refuge for innovation for games in the future is lowering the cost of making great games by making a system that's easy to develop for and cheap tools to do it with.

Ragging on a system's launch titles is not only stupid... But really stupid. I know I can't wait till I go home and play Toyko Extreme Racer, Blue Stinger, Fantavision, Every game for the Xbox1 minus Halo1, etc. Just wait for the second and third wave of games before you make a judgement of a system.

I personally have crossed over to the M$ (I'm cool and hip cause I made fun of Microsoft and them being rich) this generation. I still own my PS2 as well and enjoy it very much too. But I've been lied too many times with Sony's all talk and no walk. That compaired to Microsoft who has delievered EVERYTHING they've promised this generation. Any hardware or preheperal (better controller, wireless adaptor, LIVE, Media Center Extender, Webcam [sold only in JP in hope of expanding the uses of the Xbox in hope for sales... Haha... Jeah right]) they've shown off... Makes it to our living rooms.

I am happy for the linup. It's the best lineup for any console thus far. Do your research. People kill me with being negative. Most of the people who says the Linkup sucks were not getting an X360 anyway. So their opinion is null and void.

I'm not bent out of shape, It's just the sense of Deja Vu is palpable, and I'm not ready to deal with 2 years of fanboy flamwars again. Note I didn't single any particular person out, but the general tone of the discussion has gotten out of hand. I'll use strong terms when they're called for. Example: This launch is utter crap. 17 Completely pointless titles and Kameo, which if we're lucky will be better than Starfox Adventures. That's it.

I do not take the opprotunity, however, to imply that anyone who DOES go out and buy this thing is personally going to luv Bill Gates long time. Maybe people really like racing games. Maybe they want to use the Media Center extension function. Who knows! The point is the launch lineup and the overall potential of the console have nothing to do with each other, except that it may be an indicator of the kind of games we're going to see on the platform, i.e. exactly like the Xbox 1.

And we do NOT know enough about the PS3 or the Revolution to make judgement calls yet. Taking the stance that the PS3 will be somehow "better" than the 360 when the PS3 is a complete unknown at this point, is just being retarded. Heck, saying the PS2 is better than the XBox 1 shows some large amounts of immaturity even if the statement holds a lot more weight behind it, simply because it doesn't take into account that they offer different experiances targeted at different kinds of people. None of the consoles are terribly well rounded, which I think is the most important thing.

Carl,
the worst part about it is I think people enjoy being lied to, having their hopes raised and then being let down. The one thing M$ is doing is what you said, they are doing what they said they would do period; I feel the same about Nintendo. That is fankly my biggest issue with Sony, but that doesn't mean I won't get their system too. I just lower my expectations when I read their press releases.

The1,
sounds like you're saying something similar to me; watch out, people will be saying you should be banned too! Why do people have such a hard time calling a spade a spade?

man. i remember when video games were video games and a gamer just played them instead of arguing back and forth about which console would win "the console war" who really gives a shit?

Seriously. If you buy an XBOX 360 and it is outsold by the PS3, who gives a shit. You'll still get TONS of good games on your 360, and if not then just buy a PS3!!! Is it really that difficult to figure out? What difference is your guys babbling back and forth about all this shit going make? NONE. You guys stand up for your favorite console manufaturer like it was your little brother or something. The past XBOX was outsold by the PS2 by 4x. Did it stop me from getting a bunch of good games on my XBOX? NO. The PS2 was over powered by the XBOX in terms of hardware, did that stop me from getting good games for my PS2? NO. The Revolution sold less than any of the three, and did that stop it from getting THREE exclusive resident evil games? NO. The point is games will be games, and EVERY system that is coming out will likely have good games for it. 360 already has games like PD0, DOA4, Oblivion, GR3, 99 Nights, RE5, Halo 3, Ninja Gaiden 2 the list goes on and on. The PS3 will have Metal Gear, Devil May Cry, etc. The Revolution will have Mario 128, new SSB, new Zeldas, Viewtiful Joe's, etc.

You guys really need to realize that it is ALL about the GAMES. Not which system has the best launch lineup, or which system has the best backwards compatibility, or which system has the most HDMI outputs. EVERY SYSTEM will have plenty of good games worth buying. If the 360 has your favorite games, get it. If the PS3 has your favorite games, buy it. Same goes for nintendo. But what is the point in getting on the internet and going on and on about how the system you want to buy will be SO much better than the other ones? Does it really matter THAT much to you guys if 360 outsells PS3? If it does, it shouldnt.

Besides, we are already seeing that Microsoft is obviously gaining ground, and I don't know why anyone sees this as a bad thing (sony fanboys) all this means is that the same cross platform games that have ALWAYS been on the playstaition, will now be available for the XBOX systems as well. But then again all this will lead to is you idiots barking back and forth about which system runs RE5 better. Give me a break and shut the hell up.

I don't thinks it's bad atall,Project Gotham,PDZ,Kameo,CODII,Quake4 will be keeping
many gamers happy over the Christmas holidays until the Spring when Gears Of War,Oblivion, etc show more of the next gen power that the machine has.By the time PS3 is out,the games will be much closer to using the full power of the system and will be superior to most of the titles PS3 will have to offer on day one.Halo 3 will no doubt be absolutely gobsmacking on and offline and will probably define what a cinematic game will be on these next gen consoles.Im looking forward to what PS3 wil offer but if Sony screw it up with that technology they've developed where you cant sell your second hand game lend it to your mates cuz its DRM protected, well, they can shove it up their well protected arses!

This launch IS the best launch in console history thus far. Im not suprised how Sony's idiot fans are quick to diss it, I mean look at the PS2's lauch lineup (bunch of jealous haters). What does suprise me are the PC idiots dissing the 360.

Look, some people vaule their hard earned money and dont feel like wasting a couple hundred bucks every year just to get a new video card. Why the hell are you guys hating the 360 anyway? Without Microsoft you wouldnt have much of a PC environment to play your games. BTW Id rather be playing my 360 on a nice 42inch plasma on my couch then sitting on a computer desk playing on a keyboard with a 22inch monitor. Get real.

The Xbox 360 launch is easily better than any other launch (except maybe Dreamcast). I know some of the games are or have been on other systems but I dont have them on these systems so they are all new to me.
I am looking forward to PDZ and COD2 as my choice FPS. COD2 was a lot of fun to play at the kiosk at Target. Following those two, I will definitely buy Quake 4 because I never got to play Quake 2 so it'll be like 2 for 1.
Next, Kameo and Condemned look like long term "sit down and really get into" games.
There is so much to chose! I might get NBA2k6 too as a sports game. OMG thats like 6 games already!!
Sony has dominated the scene for the last 10 years and I'm sure there are a lot of Sony fans, fanboys, and fanbots. I'd say give the 360 a shot. Once you enjoy the online capabilities and the improved graphics, you'll probably be glad you did.

If you say the graphics on the 360 arent much better than the ps2 (turn your pussified face to Gears of War), i think you might explode from thinking when your not used to it. I would explain why the 360 has far more capability when it comes to GAMING (faggot-faced, arrogant-ass Kutagari said the ps3 is not designed for this) but google it and cry on your own time buddy boy.
