Darwinia to be published via Steam in the US
Introversion Software have finally found a U.S. distributor and
publisher for the PC version of their second and latest game. If you've never heard of it, Darwinia is a
strange fusion of a strategy and puzzle game. The aim of the game is to protect the Darwinians, which live within the
virtual world.
Introversion has already found a U.S. distributor for the Mac version (since there's no Mac version of Steam), but has struggled to find one for the PC version in the U.S. until now.
The game is to appear on Steam on December 15th and will be available to pre-order soon. As part of the deal Introversion has removed the demo and download game option from their site. So if you're interested in this title, you're gonna have to look elsewhere to try it out.

Thats awesome. Darwinia is one of the best indie games out there, and it certainly deserves the attention it will get with this.
Anyway for those who really dont know the game, its a sort of strategy game with a control system thats alike to black&white. But well its set inside a computer, giving it awesome tron style graphics. Also one of the most awesome features is i think is that you have to actually can alt-tab between the programs that you are running.

Am I right in assuming this game is based on the novel by Robert Charles Wilson? 'Cause that was a pretty cool novel.

Why would you pre-order a game for download?
Please stop encouraging the game vendors to do this pre-order bullshit. The more you do it, the more I have to deal with sneers and condescending smirks when I tell the GameStop clerks I don't want to preorder some game that I could just pick up at WalMart a hour later if their shitty store runs out of copies.
Also, the site says the demo will be available on Steam.

Since it's Steam, I'm guessing they meant pre-download. Which is then unlocked on the day of the release.
Didn't they do that also for Half-Life 2?
