You can try to click on the 'read' link below, but there is
a good chance nothing will come. The link should take you to Circuit City, where they are currently having their Xbox
360 pre-order hoopla. However, it seems that their servers
were flooded most egregiously. You readers have sent us horror stories from the event, and we are trying to piece
together what exactly happened. Here is what we know so far:
-
The actual pre-sale did not begin at 2:00; the earliest account seems to be 2:18 or so.
-
There were server errors all over the place; some tipster reported upwards of 25 failed orders.
-
Those who attempt to order will be redirected to various servers, which will either time out or take you to a page marked "genericContent.do.gif 1x1 pixels."
-
All phone lines are currently jammed.
At least one Joystiq reader got his order completed after an hour of attempted orders, but laments that he "had to pay over 90 bucks for shipping in order for it to be here by Tuesday." The main Circuit City page seems to be working now, but the closer you get to the Xbox 360 pre-orders (clicking the 'Games' link, the 'Video Game Hardware' link, etc.), the more problems become prevelent. It seems demand is still pretty large for the upcoming console (or is it?).
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]
