Our first Xbox Live friend: you like us, you really like us
We just received our first friend request from reader Avenger55. He was suiting up to play some Halo 2 it seemed and unfortunately Live support for original Xbox titles isn't working yet. When it does we'll of course let you know. In the interim, any lucky SOB have a 360 and a copy of PGR3? If so, send "Joystiq" a friend request. The friend service is great, and it's going to be even better with 360. Someone tap Nintendo on the shoulder and let them know.
[Thanks, Avenger55]

I sent you guys a firend request too, look foward to playin with you in the future! Btw: You guys are great: keep up the good work (I probably check your site upwards of 10-20 times a day)
Kamalot @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
Yeah, let Nintendo know about it 'cause they are at least trying to provide an easy and fun way to play games online. I can't imagine anyone in this day and age who would want to forego a unified online service, providing a quick and easy way to play games with your firends online.
petey @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
Yet another pointless topic... my dog is playing with his ball right now...that would made a better topic in my opion, he is REALLY fun to watch and play with... stop bashing Nintendo, you all will look even duller when they'll show you, hype spreaders/swallowers who knows the game better, your blog is an endless pointless ksbox hypist nonsense. you ain't even hardcore players, sleeping a few hours after getting start this so called gamathon, back in the days, friends of mine and I could play non stop for more than 2 days on NeoGeo, SuperFamicom, NeoCD... take vitamins... big lol
Royale @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
Wtf petey.. I couldn't even follow that post.
petey @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
Then Royale, buy a brain, it's usefull, you'll see... lol
Mr. Clark @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
Insulting joystiq for sleeping?
Dude, you have issues.
Royale @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
Hmmm... clever reply. Buy a brain? I think I might have to look into that.
Aiden @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
petey, how about I start bashing you instead? The Internet is a free space, and as far as I know, the USA has control over it. All rights that exist in the USA exist online. If Joystik wishes to tell the world of what the staff believe in, they have the right to do so. If you are offended by it, shut the fuck up. You have the right to speak out, but the owner also has the right to shoot you.
I just got my 360 and 7 games (been savin' for this baby for a long time). Look forward to the new Live.
Just as a side note, I spent days playing Nintendo, Playstation, NeoGeo, and Xbox, you dont see me bitching at Joystik because they bash Nintendo. In my eyes, Nintendo (orignal) is the best console to date. In my eyes. (<-important note petey, maybe your "bought" brain cannot comprehend that)

What does the article have to do with Nintendo? What kind of back-handed comment is that?
WTF? Someone needs to tell SONY about online gaming!
Seriously, Nintendo waited until the market was ripe and Wi-Fi everywhere. They made a good decision. What's Sony's excuse?
Paul Atreides @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
Let's not forget: Less than 10% of existing Xbox owners have Xbox Live or care about it.
Glenn @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
Ugh, guys the slam was against Nintendo saying your not allowed to post your user # for DS games online. Where as MS promotes the gamertag and sharing it online.
Paul, that stat doesn't appear to relate to anything said here.
vc @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
Paul wrote, "Less than 10% of existing Xbox owners have Xbox Live or care about it."
I have a feeling that's going to change big-time with the next version of Xbox Live. We'll see!
C. Grant @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
It seems like there is a large percentage of people here who have no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned Nintendo. Did you follow the link? Nintendo has asked members not to share friend codes. MS encourages it. We like the latter. I'm not sure why Nintendo has taken this approach, but I hope they add more features to WFC like Live's. Thats all. We all love Nintendo (maybe not all of us, but Joystiq at least!)
petey @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
I'm not bashing, let's get this straight, correct me if I'm wrong but this is a multiplatform blog, or so is supposed, well all I see are tons of articles posted about the Xbox and very, very few to make a point of any kind, take a look a the current page and the previous ones, girly blabla, cheap hype "wow 360 is so great, look at that power cable and the loadings of the media player...", sounds more like a fanboy diary... then joystiq starts the gamathon: 48h of 360 play or so they say because 1 night of playing & goodnight, about Nintendo, what I have to do with the fact that speaking about a 360 issue, they start childishly bashing Nintendo(read the article before speaking), all because a moderator on a forum asked not to share the personal codes on WiFi, better mind about the 360Live service not allowing to play original Xbox games... but not a problem, no bashing here... tell me about ultrabiased blogging... again, use your brain & don't swallow all that hype, you don't hear me bashing me brainlessly the 360... so, take care!
vc @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
Petey: dude, if Nintendo and Sony provide us with a Revolution and PS3, we will be doing 48 or even 72-hour game-a-thons with those systems. No doubt!
petey @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
If so, don't feel obliged to do all the "unwrapping" stuff, at least pointless, and please do a little physical training before, or use vitamins... as I said, back in college times, my friends & I use to do some unforgetable true 48h rallies of Alpha Mission II, Baseball 2020, DBZ2, Secret of Mana, TopGear 2, ExhaustHeat 2, MarioKart, Samurai Shodown (so sweet) and many more, all that without the responsability of reporting for a blog... so work out and be fair, you'll only gain in doing so... take care!

Hey Joystiq, you may want to check that stack of applications to see if petey's applied for a blogger position. He seems a little bitter towards you guys. LOL

xbair @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
I just sent you a friend invite.
I'm xbair, my forte is PGR, but I can only afford Perfect Dark Zero.
Hope to see you online!

Oh, and not to brag or anything, but I'm awesome at Geometry Wars.

petey=troll=PLZ FORTHELOVEOFGOD dude STFU. If you want to troll, go somewhere else. Your orignal comment about not bashing N had some validity, but there is no need to bash everyone else. Seriously, Vlad, whats up with the N bashing, I'm not even a N fanboy, but I can see it. Keeps your entries from wandering into topics other than the ones they began with, or, start a new entry. Any media outlet (which joystiq is) should have a competent editor (who would nix that sort of thing right away).

Spence @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
Worry not Nintendo fans, I really find it hard to believe nintendo will stop us sharing friend codes..?
What will they do? hire people to constantly govern the thousands of people playing constantly? unlikely.
GMail for an example.. you can't sign up for it, a pain in the ass because if you don't know anyone with it you can't get it.
Google's marketting is great.. but not ideal for everyone so some nice fellow came up with the GMail spooler found here: http://isnoop.net/gmail/
I think, if you're popular you might know 4 or 5 people in real life with the same console who you play with regularly, which should be nice for a games console.. and you can always play people in real life.
But that's not going to be good enough, you'll find people you really like and want to switch names with them and replay them - maybe mum wants to watch TV kids.. "eastenders is on! go do your homework" so I expect someone will come up with a database where you can reguster yourself and keep in contact.
Obviously this has to be governed right, because there are issues with idiots stalking people online.. it has to be a safe environment.
But like the guy said in Jurassic park.. evolution finds a way, I suggest we all use the duck and cover technique when the dinosaurs rip the roof off your house.
please remember your Nintendo revolution controller is not a REAL gun, it will not hurt the dinosaurs like it does in Peter Jackson's King Kong
batman @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
petey - if you don't like it don't visit the blog, no one is forcing you to. You're not paying a cent to joystiq, they owe you less than nothing. They spend they're time writing so we can know what is going on, true its not perfect, but i'm not expecting it to be, and you shouldn't either. If you can do it perfectly, YOU start a videogame blog, if not, appriciate it for what it is or go straight to hell sir.
Chris @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
Well said Batman. I am so sick of people jumping all over joystick about them being biased 1 way or another. I have only visited this site for 1 month and I have heard that Joystick is a bunch of Xbox Fanboys, Sony Fanboys, and Nintendo Fanboys. As well as being Xbox Bashers, Sony bashers, and Nintendo bashers. As far as I can tell Joystick calls it like they see it. True it is an opinion so many will disagree. But, why accuse them constantly. There are many blogs here. Simply find the one that agrees with your fanboyism or move on. I'm sick of people cluttering this with useless backtalk. I come her for info and keep an open mind. If you cant contribute witha proper disagreement (with some sort of info to back it) then please don't clutter with BS and accusations. Thank-you.
ravedog @ Dec 18th 2005 9:13PM
I'm starting a collection to buy a box of punctuation for PETEY... it will come with a case of the new DE_CAF Mountain Dew... anyone want to contribute?
