Okay, now say it ten times fast. Yeah, this isn't really new news, and the remedy supposedly only works 60% of the time, but it's still worth a shot. The Stuck Pixel Fixer is essentially a movie file that rapidly flashes a sequence of colors repeatedly on your PSP's screen and works off the principle that a pixel that's either constantly switched "on" or "off" can be made unstuck by bombarding it with said patterns.Bad pixels are certainly the most annoying glitch that's marred the console, a fact aggravated even further by Sony's policy to only replace PSPs that meet a minimum dead pixel count. (As noted by a CNET article dated last March, only devices with at least 10 dead, stuck, or discolored pixels would be considered for replacement.) The PSP manual also clearly warns that "red, blue, or green...or black spots may appear in certain locations on the PSP screen" and adds that "a very small number of dark pixels or continuously lit pixels exist on each screen", which essentially means if your PSP has less than 10 faulty pixels, the only thing you're going to get from Sony is a hearty, Apu-sounding, "Thank you, come again!"
So what's a gamer to do? Nobody relishes the concept of playing $250 games of Russian Roulette, from what we've heard it's at the very least a whole lot better than puttering around on a Gizmondo. Ooh, burn!
