As Microsoft prepares for their worldwide rollout of the Xbox 360, the Wall Street Journal has an article that covers some of the little-mentioned details of such an endeavor. A Microsoft VP said, "With 1,700 components all it takes is one not being there and it's an issue."Over 250 suppliers make the parts while "some 25,000 workers world-wide have roles in making either the parts or the Xbox 360 itself." Numbers like that help to conceptualize what a mammoth task a console launch is!
Also discussed is the heay losses they incurred with the original Xbox and how conrol over the design this time around should alleviate costs.
