16 NES-ified covers of hit songs streamed to Xbox 360 playing Kameo
A Something Awful forum user has put together a package of 16 remakes of popular songs synthesized
using an NES's audio system. We're currently wirelessly streaming all of these MP3s from the laptop being used to
write this post to the Xbox 360 that we're using to play Kameo. Good, sacriligious fun.

Nullsleep did an incredible cover of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence" with video game synths. Very recommended.

Mesu Kasumai did some great covers of 80s songs on various video game and computer synths. Also recommended.

I like some of these better than their originals, but couldn't they have done Fake Plastic Trees instead of Karma Police? And It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) would have been righteous.
Oh no, I've said too much!

The Final Countdown!! G.O.B. would be proud.
matt w @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
These are great. I agree with Carl, the second I heard The Final Countdown I thought of G.O.B. Curse you Fox Executives! I love 8-bit music.
Nathan Chan @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
I won't be listening to it for hours, its quite slow. Are there other mirrors up?

Well God. I wasn't expecting these to make del.icio.us/popular. I'm kalocin on the SA forums, and this was a project that I worked on with a bunch of other forum goons - I'm going to contact them and show them this.
Thanks for the coverage, guys. :)
